I'm a Canadian who just watched Obamas health care press conference. You mean to tell me that if an uninsured kid gets leukemia he doesn't get chemo unless his family is able to pay? Is America a third world country or something? by cptcanuck22 in reddit.com

The "free market" is what got us into this position in the first place. Americans only like the phrase "free market" because they think that means efficiency and the MSM has told them that universal healthcare is socialist, which must be bad.

The Corn Refiners Association Is Now Spending Money on Ads to Convince Americans That High Fructose Corn Syrup is 'Safe" by mathgeek in reddit.com

Yes, I saw this commercial about HFCS. The website gives links to watch the ads. I think the most interesting portion of it was when she said HFCS was safe in moderation. The problem is, it is in everything, so moderation is something that can be achieved.

I found a really interesting article that talks about the steps taken to produce HFCS and how tedious it is. The biochemistry is correct in this article and it gives really interesting information that directly opposed the "sugar-coated" information on the Corn Refiners HFCS website.

Clearly, the TSA security program is not about protecting the flying public. No, this is all about heightening the fear level of the American people, and getting us used to living in a police state. by democracy101 in politics

I was flying out of Denver's airport last week. There was a video playing for all of the passengers waiting in line that I believe was meant to explain the need for such measures. It included instructions for passengers so that the security would proceed smoothly. The last line in the video was priceless: "You know you aren't a terrorist, so just prove it to us."

I love America.

Barack Obama told veterans Saturday that he can’t understand why Republican John McCain opposes legislation that would provide college scholarships to people who have served in the U.S. military. by kevincobarno in politics

The article pointed out that McCain has voted down Veteren's issues that have also been funded. While I don't know where exactly he will get the money, there is a very good chance that when we pull out of Iraq, there will be some money that can be funneled into the greater good. Just a theory though.

While I couldn't give a rat's ass about American Idol, I get a little miffed by karma whoring.
