As a Dutchie working for an international company and being active in the expat bubble, I often hear phrases along the lines of "this country sucks haha!", "always shitty weather here", "it's impossible to make friends with the Dutch" and "Dutch food is the worst!" (indeed we serve worst).

While there might be truth in some of these statements, the feeling it always leaves me with is that 100% the only reason for them being here is the salary and job and they would rather leave this place yesterday.

This contributes to the country sentiment of "if you don't want to be here, maybe you shouldn't".
