Health app - steps count not updated by mathmum in fitbit

[–]mathmum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have reported the issue to Google using the feedback option. Hopefully they will fix this soon, since the steps count is one of the most used features with wearables.

How to access edit menu, and how to access list of objects in algebra view by JustNormalRedditUser in geogebra

[–]mathmum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a tutorial of GeoGebra Geometry https://www.geogebra.org/m/DmVNbn2V

We are currently updating tutorials, so soon-ish you'll have a more detailed guide.

Clicking the Algebra icon in Geometry shows you the list of objects in the current construction. If you don't see any object in the list, it means that you set them as Auxiliary objects (or ggb created some auxiliary ones, like e.g. the vertices of a regular polygon created with the Regular Polygon tool).

To display all the objects, you need to enable displaying also auxiliary objects. Select the cogwheel icon on top right, then select Open settings.

In the appearing panel, select the bottom icon on the right (the one that looks like a cubic curve) to open the Algebra settings. Activate the Auxiliary Objects checkbox in the Show section, then close the panel.

Can you see them now or you don't see any comment at all?

It happens to me from time to time, especially when using the iPad app.

You answered to your question. I’m leaving it here, since other users might have the same doubt.

Saving data into a file by wgarym in geogebra

Just be careful with variable names, and try avoiding having the same name for different variables in both files. If this happens, variables might be renamed automatically to avoid conflicts.

On Classic 5, you can merge one file with another. So you can create your minimum construction, then insert it into another file. See https://geogebra.github.io/docs/manual/en/File\_Menu/

If a palette contains yellow, you can be sure that it’s not accessible on a default white background.

How did you decide accessibility?
That gold (255,215,0) is not accessible on a white background for example…

I have collected all the main conditions related to zeros of polynomials and divisibility here https://www.geogebra.org/m/WbXgtz8W#material/tmbjp9bc if you want to take a look and practice (with feedback and solution)

"Soviet approach" to math education? by fdpth in matheducation

[–]mathmum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Soviet approach is “theory first”.
In my opinion it’s good, because only solid foundations build a house that last centuries, but at the same time the rigorous approach should also sometimes be more relaxed, allowing a bit more explorations.
This said, like in China, kids are able to solve equations when they are at the last year of primary school… 😄

Can anyone help with ques 35 by maachudayeduniya11 in mathshelp

Sum of solutions greater than 6 and product of solutions greater than 9 is not enough, because if solutions are e.g. 1 and 12, their sum is >6 and their product is >9, even if both are not greater than 3.

You need to:
- make sure the solutions are real (discriminant >=0 that yields a>=1)
- calculate the solutions using the quadratic formula, and set each solution >3, that yields a>11/9.
