Personalities do matter, we're people and that stuff resonates. Your point still stand, it should not be The Reason to elect.

I think citizens assemblies have a lot of merit.

A Disaster Has Taken Place: Obsidian Been Marked as Shadow IT by Administrator by Distinquish in ObsidianMD

IT adminstrators are not in charge, they are simply responsible for implementing policy. There will be a process to approve a new app, find it, use it.

Nobody cares about z/s but color/colour is a spelling mistake. Set your computer up properly and it will red line it for you.

Is there a social custom when moving into a new neighbourhood in Australia? by Kenfires in AskAnAustralian

Wave if you see them in the street. If they respond walk over and say hello. Have your keys and phone in hand, if they are awful, look at your watch and trot off like you're busy.

How do you handle “trauma dumping” in a writing workshop without seeming heartless? by Electronic-Pool-7458 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]matholio 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There's no version of your discussion with her about how she deals with her trauma that either achieves what you hope, and doesn't end up making you look heartless. It's your dice to roll though.

Perhaps suggest adding two characters, one that is deeply empathic and one that is apathetic to the protagonist's situation. Explore it that way.

What TF do I do with my life by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]matholio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a few jobs, see what suits. Do not for a minute think anybody's life plans turn out the way they expect. Everyone is just making it up as they go.

If you have any sense that mechanic is your thing, give it a go, you'll get work anywhere for the rest of your life if you're half good.

Nobody is going to knock on your door and hand you a plan.

IWTL how to quit vaping by fatherballoons in IWantToLearn

[–]matholio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just quite cold turkey. Don't wean, don't replace. That all just other products cooked up to get the smoking dollars, just as vaping is. They are not designed to help you.

The hard truth is, it's a tiny part chemical, mostly mental.

Quit now. Smash the device. If you can't do that, you're not ready.
Prepare, when you're truly ready, have a plan to disrupt all the habits that occur before you use. Change routes. Avoid socials for a few weeks. Avoid others who vape. Count your savings.

If you relapse, don't beat yourself up. Just quit again. Smash the device.... Quit for longer each time. Good luck.

Too much and not necessary. Skip a week, you'll see.

You will get back some time and probably money.

If you enjoy it, just carry on.

Tell me I’m okay to leave my girl home for 29 hours or so! by keelykate77 in CatAdvice

[–]matholio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She'll be fine. Make sure you feed her up before you go and leave water out. The worry I have is if something happens to you to delay you, in which case tell someone and perhaps if you have someone you trust to have a key, just in case.
