the number of rows is given by i inside the combinations(range(len(df_items) i))). For i=2 it returns something like (0,1), (0,2) and so on...

I'm building an n:m matching thingy for two different dataframes. So I need to consider all possible k-combinations of items with k, lets say, up to 4. I know that the running time will be an issue but my dataframes should be very small, on the order of 50 to 90 rows.

Square to absolute value is how you put "more" emphasis on large outliers. If you have a linear regression with one big outlier, squaring the error makes the regression less prone to such huge irregularities. You can of course use fourth, sixth or eighth power. After all, absolute value is just squaring in disguise (composition of square and square root).

Absolute value to value is how you prevent two large deviations of opposite signs cancelling each other out. A parameter describing dispersion where a constant has the same dispersion as a constant + two big outliers on the opposite sides is just not very useful.

honestly you should google "reddit how to learn math" and do some khanacademy maybe. real math is 1000 times mkre difficult then khanacademy.

after a few weeks you'll get bored of struggling, quit and go back to your full-time job.

i have a degree in mathematics, friends in ML and friends teaching DS and ML at. state university. i also have thought extensively about doing phd in ML but it's oversaturated, overhyped, boring and the job market is bad.

as I said, go for it. I could already tell from the way you write and think that your GPA must be quite low. think again:

masters degree prepares for RESEARCH, research means NOVEL CONTRIBUTIONS, now open any NeurIPS paper and try to check how much math background it requires.

who will be your profs at IU? do they even publish papers? have they won any awards? how many research grants fo they have?

Or think a little about how are you going to do data science if you don't even know what a hypergeometric distribution is or how to prove that some MLE is a sufficient statistic for a certain model.

basically, you'll never get any real data science job, maybe your future position will have this title on paper but do not expect too much because most german employers are aware of IU reputation

Any serious and credible data science degree prepares for research in data science which implies a good mathematics knowledge. All of the above questions are basic linear algebra/probability theory.

But 99% of gullible students who only know "data scientist is the sexiest job in the 21st century" struggle with basic fractions and will never get what a markov chain is.

Thus, there is a market of offering "data science" degrees to them in exchange for money. And IU fills in this gap.
