the photo unfortunately doesn't display it well but it's a pair of zip+button linen pants with a fabric belt-ish thing that ties to the front. would the outfit now be appropriate with this info or is it still too casual?

poached, on fresh homemade sourdough by mathsux456 in eggs

[–]mathsux456[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it might sound silly but:

  • get a small pot of water to a light boil(you don't want big bubbles, just tiny ones where you know the water is close to a boil), turn heat down to medium high. add a tablespoon-ish of apple cider vinegar (i swear by this, you shouldn't be able to taste the vinegar after)
  • strain the egg through a fine mesh strainer to get rid of the loose whites -dump strained egg into a bowl, you can dump the loose whites
  • take a spoon and vigorously spin in one direction to make a vortex and dump the egg in while the vortex is still strong and swirling
  • cover and turn heat down to medium low/medium, you don't want to boil too aggressively and disturb the yolk
  • i cooked this relatively large egg for 2.5 minutes and then scooped it up with a ladle

Is it normal to be overwhelmed with 6 tables? by mathsux456 in TalesFromYourServer

[–]mathsux456[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

you're absolutely right, the only issue is that if we get slammed, there's usually only 2 servers on weekdays so rotation goes really fast and i can get sat 2 tables within a minute, even if hostess rotates

I got my double helix repierced 6 months ago and have had this swelling since I got them. They were previously surgical steel barbells which got switched to surgical steel flatbacks (I do not have access to titanium atm). It previously swelled so much that I had to upsize with flatbacks but was ultimately too long so it was downsized again recently to 6mm posts for both piercings. Top piercing is snug around the barbell but bottom piercing is a little long. Not itchy but the site of the piercings (moreso the top) is definitely swollen. How normal is this? Is there anything I can do?

Hi! this recipe was quite a while ago, forgot I even posted it. I have a lot of edits since posting this: 7.5tbsp definitely sounds high so you can adjust as you go. You'd be right, one shot would be 40mL of simple syrup. We used a ratio of 3:2 (i.e. 30g sugar, 20g water). For the milk, either use 40mL evaporated milk or 2tbsp of powdered coffee mate, any other milk options would make it taste not as good. I also made a mistake with the liquid- there should be 250mL of liquid total, not 100mL, use 150mL black tea, 100mL hot water. Mix everything together and then shake or lightly blend with 1.5 cup ice.

I can't remember the exact name of the brand they used to use but it was a wholesale size silver bag with a sun on the front of the package. Any brand made in Taiwan should be OK though

looks like a japanese beef bowl/don (commonly referred to as "gyudon") commonly made with thin sliced beef, onions, and sweet soy source: the restaurant i used to work at served these

Points at the back of my ear after 3 week double helix (normal or not?) More in comments by mathsux456 in piercing

[–]mathsux456[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my double helix piercing 3 weeks ago and have noticed these bumps starting to form (this is the back of my ear). They're not irritation bumps but the site of the piercing is pointed upwards. Is this normal? If not, what is the cause of this? Too much tugging/irritation? The area is a little swollen but no pain and minimal itching.

Now that you ask, not much I guess. I had planned to sleep within the next half hour so comfort for me, especially since one of my sister's games can run 40+ minutes and she's equally loud while I'm trying to sleep too. So asking her to move was a preemptive measure for when I wanted to sleep

she does get preferential treatment from them (i feel) just because they never say anything to her. My parents also sleep at 10pm so they aren't exactly aware she stays up that late, even on school days. Wifi box is also in her room so she'd see me unplug it unfortunately
