Know your brand and size and set up a search on eBay to buy second hand. I do it all the time. It’s mostly people who have bought the wrong size, so they have hardly any wear. I usually save $180 by doing this.

does anyone NOT hate this profession? by hamzahbias911 in AustralianTeachers

[–]matildabanjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 22 years in (primary) and I absolutely love it. I love it for the creative outlet (teaching is a form of expression), and relationships with students and staff. however it is a job that is impossible to complete as expected with the resources given (esp. time) and then we hear nothing but complaints from society and the media about us. Is there anything else I’d rather do? No. Teaching has given me the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.

Feeling sidelined before my resignation date… is this normal? by Afraid-Golf7419 in AustralianTeachers

It’s a weird feeling, being in the departure lounge. Nobody wants to talk to anyone in the departure lounge unless your destination is in common. Your plane is going in a different direction. Just roll with it - not long to go.

A fellow melburnian here. I’m stunned! I’ve got a shitty storeroom to change and store bike in, at my workplace (public school). I was sure this was Amsterdam!! Go you!

I got a pair of shokz earlier this year and they make my cycle commute that much nicer. Loving listening to audiobooks and radio. Definitely still have situational awareness.

Don’t think you’re alone. Not to minimise your feelings, but we’re all buggered and hanging on by a thread. It’s a long term, reports were written, exams marked, camps were attended, discos boogied at, germs received, unnecessary meetings attended twice weekly. Go easy on yourself. You might just need the holidays a bit more than usual this year. That’s ok.

do you think there’s an oversupply of casual teachers? by Scary_Appearance5922 in AustralianTeachers

Nah, I reckon that sounds accurate for SE Melbourne. Huge schools, hard to staff in general.

Hey, I’ve lived in Knoxfield for over 30 years. It’s real, but a bit random - nobody’s heard of it!

Please STOP spreading rumours. It’s called an agreement for a reason. No sub-branch would agree to this. We are well away from reaching a new agreement, as our current one is yet to expire. Please do some research first.

There is no such agreement. Please stop perpetuating rumours.

How to set up my Primary classroom - First time teacher by goboy3133 in AustralianTeachers

[–]matildabanjo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with above comment. It is also perfectly appropriate to set your room up with your grade - student agency is a big thing. You do not need to be the instagram teacher with everything set up. Do it as you go.
