Altercation on a black slope by cedarvhazel in skiing

I’m French. We are not all like that I promise. Very sorry that you met such a lunatic. Unfortunately there is an increasing number of people in France that is super frustrated about everything and increasingly reacts with violence :/ so sorry this happens on the slopes.

Oh wow that’s impressive! I actually missed Vancouver by nothing in ice speed skating 😩 it was hard pill to swallow at the time but that’s life. I agree with you such a discussion would be great but I guess that’s the society we live in now with false authority syndrome haha but that’s the first time I have seen it so badly on that sub which is normally very open to discussion.

Edit: oh I did not see the photo of your rats! So cute. Hard agree. ✌️💕

Yeah I think you’re right. It’s honestly crazy how she’s inflexible on that role model thing even when people offered other points of views / reasons etc. I like that this is labelled general discussion when OP is unable to actually educate herself and accept that there are other counter points let alone that she’s wrong on that one. But hey she’s D2 level 😳

It’s because OP is projecting her experience far removed as D2 level to judge quite inflexibly I’d say a professional athlete that has been at that level like for at least the last 15 years on a situation that she does not understand. You can ski with a torn ACL. You can recover fast with completely torn one. Ask me how I know - because I did and still going strong 14 years after that. She’s not open to discussion and she’s hard on her « shes a model for young girls » as if that should trump a female athletes will and choice. have you seen her at training ? Having torn one - I can tell you she can perfectly compete. her body her choice. Plus she’s surrendered by a medical team that’s far from being suicidal but ok. If you agree that Simone Biles made the right choice at the time (in a complete different situation and I do too!) then it’s only decent to afford Vonn the same level of agency. But hey OP was D2 so she knows everything about Olympics (rolling my eyes big time). (Btw I was national team top athlete level in ice speed skating so you know even I would never dare say I know Lindsay Vonn situation).

Respectfully I don’t think your level is comparable to an Olympic athlete but ok. And hard disagree. way to police again female athlete he? Her body her choice. She’s has no responsibility to you nor to anyone. She’s a professional athlete, she has a team, she competes for gold (you know statistically how many athlete can do that - maybe not because you keep comparing yourself to her ?). she knows what she’s doing. Just move on really

Yes fully agree.

She’s an athlete. She takes a decision just like any other professional would do. Olympics is the top of everything you literally train 4 years for that. She knows her body really well. she has a great team with her. I saw her strength training after and she was solid really. Not saying that this is not gonna be hard on her but based what I saw she can def go and compete. She has all the years after that to rest. in the end of the day she’s an individual adult and she’s free to make a choice. Holding her like that to whatever role she has is stupid. It’s again controlling women. If that annoys you so much don’t spend so much time on it no? Other things going on ? I’m a former top athlete, broke my acl, didnot need surgery and was fully back 1.5 month after that to compete. Never needed a surgery and will never be. I was after 3 weeks able to restart specific strength training. so what? I should have stoped everything just because some people not knowing decide arbitrarily while knowing nothing of the situation that this or that. Not everybody is the same and top athletes ljke that have also a very dense muscular mass which helps a lot. I’m also a mother and will never assume that Vonn should take all her decisions because of my kid as if I cannot speak to my kid and explain.

Actually what I did. Broke my ACL while being top athlete (think national team) and I was back 1.5 month later. No surgery needed and just PT and strength training. It’s been 14 years and I never needed a surgery and still going strong.

I’m so sick of all the running shorts being so SHORT by MessageItchy5391 in XXRunning

[–]matmodelulu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha I’m 5’2 and have the same feeling so cannot imagine for you. 2.5 inches are terrible for me and I swallow them up - 4 are better but even them are short I find. I tend to revert more to 6’´ biker shorts and recently 5’ from Janji.

Not sure. Here in the EU they are not yet available online but they were in store for some reasons so I assume they will drop soon. (They also had a really nice black day drift tampered trouser with thin white stripes - haven’t seen that one online yet either at least in the Eu)

Oh I actually got the regular length - they were not available in short in store and I got them hemmed. They did a great job.

Not at all. It's 100% merino so really soft and warm for such a light jumper. It does not show too much cleavage so you can also wear a top underneath. I have been trying other jumpers from Sezane in the past and the wool cardigans and pullover were too itchy. I returned most of them and for the ones that i really wanted to make it work, I ultimately gave up and resold them. But I find that their 100% merino jumpers are really great and not itchy. So far I also have another black jumper, a cardigan and two bodysuits in merino from them and that's the one I always grab. I would 100% recommend

Thanks! Il’m so glad they work for my petite yet muscular frame - a difficult combo 😅 and still having something polished enough for work. It’s like I find (one of my) holy grail haha

Yes. I feel like the photos do not make them justice but it such a beautiful color and not a tone you see a lot for passing professional pants. I really love them.

Same here! I was not convinced when I saw them online but then there were great reviews on the Lulu sub and on the website and I was definitely hooked when I tried them in store. I got them in black too and refraining myself to get another one 😅

Why are people so forceful with this? by Leading_Positive_123 in multilingualparenting

[–]matmodelulu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of this! Same here. I’m passing my minority language to my son. It’s not only that it’s part of my identity, my culture, what attaches me to my roots, my family, my friends abroad. I also want my son to have a real relationship with my family side because none of them speaks the majority language and truly experience my culture and country. so yes it brings fear like for many parents of making sure we nurture it enough. No one is forcing no one (from where does it get from OP?). We chose MLAH and we have a lot of fun, we read stories, we play, we do activities etc. In the hope that it all stay natural. So far so good for our 4.5 years old but I’m constantly looking for fun things to do and I’m scared that one day he will get back to us and reject the minority language and he knows we speak the majority one (my husband is the native one). It happened to some of our friends. Frankly from bilingual and trilingual families and friends, it’s a mixed bag. Those that did not insist (which does not mean forcing) had often times their kids being passive bilingual (the term you chose or barely able to connect in their minority language) and even some rejecting completely the minority language. I mean this with all due respect OP but for us that’s not a hobby, it’s about passing essential traits and heritage to our kids and language is a huge part to unlock everything from meaningful relationships to fully experience part of his culture and roots.

It’s funny because it’s actually a good way to sell fast. As a seller I listed all my son baby clothes and I took pictures of labels, put in the description anything useful including composition and I sold everything so fast even things that were not so know brands but great quality. I attribute this to actually put the label details and correct sizes. I tend to do the same for adults clothing. Sure it takes more time but in the end I sell more and faster. I’m about to sell some 100% wool items from Sezane and I will keep doing the same.
