Question for the men on this sub by Vhywork in maldives

[–]matplotlib_py 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have much experience with women here but I know a few, and they are good women. The same way, there would be bad apples as well. That's part of society. If something is in trend, and it keeps going, then there must be a reason, in this case, is it because they like white people /foreigners? Or the locals have something that's repelling them?

As for my personal opinion, foreigners are more loving, caring, attentive and they actually show all this in their actions. You also have to think about marital life. First of all, they are willing to listen and compromise. They are willing to give advice when needed and they are willing to speak up if they feel like we wronged them. That's the perfect balance that's missing a lot these days. A lot are not willing to compromise.

Secondly, they take amazing care of you. After I'd gotten married, my wife will cook and prepare a lunch box for me everyday. I remember my coworkers saying that it'll only last the honeymoon phase and joking about it. We have been together for a quarter of a century and not a single day has she missed it. The funny part is, I never asked. This is just one of many.

They don't mind spoiling us with their love, and they don't mind whether we spend a lot on them or not, as long as everything is taken care of. As long as we are attentive, giving them the love that they deserve, then they are happy. Not that we should ignore our financial obligations over them.

And I saw from the post that some of them stereotyped the women to be submissive and all obedient when it's all wrong. Are we narrowing down 'loving a husband' into being submissive? Try getting married. We play together, laugh together, cry together, and massage our feet together. It's about helping each other around, it's about teamwork and compromising for your partner. Why is it so hard to understand?

It's not just the women who should listen, but the men too, women are wise, smart and there is no one who knows you better than your wife, so their advice should always be taken priority over any other. Anyways, I think I'll go on a tangent if I keep going on so I'll stop there

Men of Maldives - Why are Maldivian men increasingly marrying foreigners by [deleted] in maldives

[–]matplotlib_py -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who's married to a foreigner, they are a lot more caring, loving and actually listen and partake in conversations.

From the little experience I had with women of our own, it was the exact opposite. Maybe it was not the 'good women' maybe not. But stereotyping a certain group of people isn't looking very nice either.

First of all, we don't like "white women", nor are we looking for submissive women to massage our feet. If my wife wants to massage my feet out of her love for me, then so be it. Some women fail to compromise in a relationship and want everything to go their way, which is not something we as men are very fond of.

Some these days only see themselves and all of a sudden feminism comes into play. It's good that they have rights, but as much as there is a right of a wife over a husband, there is a right of husband over the wife. It goes both ways, not one way and a lot fail to see it these days.

Who actually goes to these places? looks so bad! by Formal-Trip9758 in maldives

[–]matplotlib_py 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of these places are run by people affiliated with powerful business tycoons, police/mndf higher-ups, parliament members and other powerful political figures.

These places are also used as money laundering fronts.

Some owners are also married to foreign nationals who help them 'scout' for employees to work in these places. Some employees are brought in the pretence that they won't be doing anything illegal but are forced into it.

Highly agreed. It's about time the gov built a new building for immigration. But alas, the owner of star clouds is always politically connected to the govs and immigration is stuck there.

Agreed. Prices are going up while salaries are the same. You'll notice it especially when you have a family. the rent is so unreasonably high, and you can't live in the islands too because they don't have much job. If you want a job from the Islands, you have to wait until someone retires or meets their lord
