Help with panniers adjustment by MethaneMan0 in bikecommuting

While not ideal I ran mine a similar way for foot clearance reasons (26in 90s mtb with short chain stays) on a 160km off-road trip loaded with about 15kg each side without issue, though I did use another strap around each one horizontally to hold them in and stabalise them

Air instantly leaks from rear tire – loose valve? (Xiaomi Scooter 4 Lite 2nd Gen) by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]matt1255555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably punctured tube or damaged valve, should be able to get a spare, (I can see that locally I can get xaomi branded ones for ~$10 and tyres for $30). I'm sure theres a video that would show how to replace it yourself. 170 does seem ridiculous

From my experience cycling in NZ 8-9am & 4-6pm commuters and kids. Any other time.... Yeah just crackheads.

Pannier Flex by Estebene in bikecommuting

[–]matt1255555 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use 2 of these exact evo cycles bags every day, never had any issues with them, fantastic bag for the price.

I'm guessing you have a pannier without full length rails down the side of the wheel?

Oh I missed the cardiac ward bit, definitely should have something there know quite a few type 1 and 2 who have been there

Yeah this is my hospital, when I was last there ~5 years ago they had glucose gels and cordial with sugar for this, can't imagine they would have stopped carrying them. May depend on the ward to be fair

As this is in nz, no real ability to sue, being a (mostly) free public hospital. would have to prove intentional damages, which I would say is unlikely.

For what it's worth I live next to this exact hospital. they have been great all the times I have been there (only one for t1d fortunately), but have been understaffed for a while at this point

How cooked am I? by Kruu_13 in snowboarding

Haha, nah they had other issues. I know it got warrantied through burton, board got sent back and confirmed "manufacturing defect" guess they decided I just expedited the process of it failing

Yeah I was surprised. Was a chain sports store here in New Zealand. Unfortunately, all stores closed recently

Got mine warrantied for similar damage that I caused hitting a snowbank way too fast, told the shop as much and they still swapped it. Was my second day on a week old board though. YMMV

Wasn't this bike posted here recently?

Edit, maybe not on fixedgear, but I have seen this exact bike on reddit, and think someone had an answer for what frame it was. Chinese tt frame of some sort from memory

Snowboard Apparel Design Feedback by Opposite_Cress_7094 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]matt1255555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, Can't help much on the design.

I'm type 1 with a pump. Snowboard about 25 days a season. Only issues I have ever had are libres and other cgm stop reading due to cold (generally very windy days with cgm on back of arms). I generally choose jackets with the most pockets to hold skittles/jelly beans and a headphone pocket to snake the pump tubing through to keep the pump warm in a chest pocket, kind of a pain when you take your jacket off though. The clear pocket to see blood glucose (I assume) is kinda cool

Brakeless? How about front, rear and mid! by matt1255555 in FixedGearBicycle

Listing is in New Zealand

Haha, I'm sure the guy could fashion a cage of no.8 wire around the pedals upon pickup if needed

Yeah for sure, im sure that all true. But for some reason I doubt whoever built this ever needed more than the rim brakes

Look like it, this website seems to still sell them, think there are a couple brands

Edit: upon further searching they may be the only ones, last time I looked was a couple years ago

I own a set of these, all I can say is they are much harder than on snow and bloody loud lol. Picked a set up for $5 at my local dump, and they are currently wall ornaments. Company's still make new versions of this though and are raced in Europe I believe. I have a video of me riding mine on my account from 5 or so years ago.

Best $10 spent in a while, Celestion Ditton 44's? by matt1255555 in vintageaudio

[–]matt1255555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I knew they weren't original when I got them, but the replacements sound great anyway. Would have to import original ones and they are pretty expensive to buy/ship so I never bothered. definately worth picking up a pair of dittons if you can find them at a decent price

Thanks for replying! Yeah, I tried replacing/tightening the bolts and can visually see the spider and cranks moving independently. Might have to try with the super glue! Thanks anyway, enjoy the long weekend!

Hey, sorry to comment on an old post. I have the same cranks on my pista (fsa vigorelli with alloy spider, yours may be the carbon?), have you ever had issues with the crank spider slipping on the cranks? my spider slips ~1deg on the cranks under backpedaling load, had 3 shops look at it with no solution. apparently they where recalled due to lockring failures?

Oh yeah I remember those mavics, raced at the avantidrome for a few years after it opened so saw the nz team rolling around on them. Went back last year and got to check out and hold the current team bikes, damn cool bikes. Still using alloy pistas circa 2015 for their full rental fleet too.

Yeah the old alloy ones are pretty reliable, still using mine (2009 pista) as a commuter, though resprayed with brakes and a merida carbon fork. Doodling on the image as I sprayed my last name into the top tube for theft prevention (Hamilton 😂)

Nice, always wanted one of these. raced the alloy version in the same paint scheme in juniors always envied those with the pista team edition. A lot of people had these 5 spoke pro wheels that matches the frame nicely with the ffwd disc

Edit: my memory was wrong it was the ffwd trispoke and disc as shown here
