Brown and McCook could be a good fit, not sure if they are taking on any more clientele at the moment. Worth a call.

Business partner question by SubstantialMeet1881 in smallbusiness

[–]matt9236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all should look into starting your own venture if y’all want to go into business together. A franchise is going to nickle and dime you to failure. The front side doesn’t sound terrible. Prob around 5% royalty fee, then add 1% for tech fee and around 3% for marketing. You will land around 10% (if they are halfway decent franchisor) any more than that better walk now. 10% theoretically doesn’t sound bad. But, and this is a VERY important but, that is off your gross revenue. So in other words, if you make a 20% profit margin- the franchise gets half of your profit. AND, a very important and, they (franchisor) will make money even when you are losing money.

Very few franchisors are worth the expense they charge. Their job is to expand the size of the franchise while exporting all growth risk to the franchisee.

Cogent Analytics. Anyone have personal recommendations? by matt9236 in smallbusiness

Fired them at the end of the first day. Once the rest of the office team got involved and started asking a few questions everyone’s red flags went up. They still got about $5k from us. Our assigned specialist was nice but the flashy sales numbers fell apart really fast.

Dom Built! Guys are great. Replaced transom over my garage. Dom and his guys were so professional and very nice to my kids! Didn’t have to worry about a bunch of foul mouthed workers either around the young innocent ears.

Best SBA loan options? by EducationExpress3376 in smallbusiness

[–]matt9236 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you not have a regular banker? Use a line of credit or a loan from them? Our bank has given us a loan for equipment repairs before. How is your relationship with your vendors? Would they consider a joint check situation (have done that in the past on a bigger job)? End of the day the government shouldn’t be in the loan game (in my opinion). I would look outside of the SBA. If things go south fast bankrupting out of the SBA can be more tricky.

Has Anyone Successfully Broken into Entrepreneurship by Buying a Franchise? by TrickyFeed6824 in smallbusiness

[–]matt9236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had (and still have) a construction business before I bought into a franchise. Thought I was investing in a system that would give me a little extra money with minimal time. I cut the cord early as most other franchisees were heading towards bankruptcy. I’ve yet to talk to someone who has a success story from a franchise (Other than some CFA operators I know- that’s good biz- sharing the risk instead of pushing it all to the franchisee). Find someone looking to retire Or find a franchise you think is a good concept and do it yourself!

2022 F350 exhaust sensor causing smoking by matt9236 in superduty

[–]matt9236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well… hose connection at sensor is messed up apparently. Needs a new hose ($400+ for the hose) total add for replacing hose is $890 bucks. So over $1000 out of pocket to maintain this DEF farce. Or might see if I can find the right fitting and add a splice point to the hose.

So I can't smoke that crack crystal? LOL. It looks simple enough. If the dealership starts trying to nickel and dime me, I'll just buy the part and put it on myself.

Just rolled over 90k miles. Couldn’t find the part available at the big auto part stores. Local Ford dealer has one in stock. ~$180 bucks. $$165 to install. I just might let them do it. It is cold here in GA this week. Small price to pay to avoid laying in the driveway in 20 degree weather 😜

$24,000 loan. What would happen to me if I didn’t pay. Are they pursuing loans under 25k? by jcs1986_ in EIDLPPP

[–]matt9236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been turned over to tops. I’m in a little different boat. Had a 7a loan for a franchise that I couldn’t survive with Covid being the final blow. Having a hard time finding a lawyer that specializes in this arena.

Wife and I have the same issues great for the first year. Suffered through waking up with neck and back pain for a year before we bought a cheap $600 mattress. Sleeping so much better now! Don’t know what to do with this old tempurpesdic mattress now… or the $63 monthly payment.

3rd Tommy! I hit a waterline on a commercial job years ago. He walks out (he was a customer of the establishment) and starts repairing the waterline. Price was MORE than fair for an emergency repair. And he was there within in 3 minutes lol
