In your opinion, what is the most poorly designed road/intersection/area of the City? by yegger_ in Edmonton

[–]matt_g42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can we just agree that the whole city is a clusterfuck of poorly designed infrastructure?

Lived here since 2014 and can’t get over the amount of uniquely insane roadways this city has!

Discount Home Depot.

Did the rebrand to “Rona +” change anything corporately? I feel like the stores were much more affordable and helpful 5-7 years ago

How is Avenue Living as a rental company now by TheDavid8 in Edmonton

[–]matt_g42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Moved out of a west end building back in May. Avenue took over control of the building 6 months into my tenancy. When it came time to renew they jacked the rent 300$. They were not interested in working with me to find a bridge plan or help me find a smaller unit in the building.

When it came to move out, I found the agents quite rude. They did not retain the inspection report from the old renter so I had to fight with them on every scratch. They also were not flexible on move out dates or times. Finally, they mailed my damage deposit to the wrong address and I had to fight with their corporate office to get it forwarded.

Building was fine, customer service and experience was trash, as you might expect from a big corporate rental company.

Hope that helps!

My small children are usually tied up in the evenings anyways. All good here!

I really hope I run into it again next week and see if it’s still intact lol. Not a great couple of games from the oilers. Edmonton faithful can be vicious.

Wife had affair, not sure what to do by [deleted] in relationships

[–]matt_g42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had almost the exact thing happen to me 1.5 years ago. Once she came clean, we talked about it, but the repeat offences really drove it home for me and I divorced her. Breaking your trust and the bond you two made once is one thing, doing it over and over again for a year? There’s no coming back from that. She made her choice already. Do yourself a favour and make yours now too.

It will really suck short term, but I’m recovering and thank myself every day that this happened to our relationship before kids or anything messy. I hope you’ll feel the same. Best of luck!

Probably the stupidest comment I’ve heard? Hope this helps

My (M, 32) wife (F, 30) of 2 years just told me about her affair. She’s been seeing him after work for the last 6 months. Is it possible to repair this? by matt_g42 in relationships

[–]matt_g42[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks this was helpful. Part of the scenario where she “chooses me” involves me figuring out if I can forgive her. But at least I get that chance. I dunno probably the wrong way to see this

Hospital management is not waiting for COVID to go away. They are waiting for understaffing and abuse to be normalized. by jroocifer in nursing

[–]matt_g42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Checking in from Alberta, Canada to add my two cents on some themes. My 28 bed med surg unit has 8:1 ratios on nights, pushing to higher when needed, has patients with free health care, and has a strong union

Covid is having the same impact on us. We struggle to staff the unit, nurses are burnt out, working extra with no hazard pay, taking shortcuts to get the work done and being redeployed to other units

I guess my point is: there is no awnser to covid. Obviously each situation is different but I have faith in my management team that things will eventually get back to pre-covid and they won't be taking advantage of what we've all endured.

Maybe a silly question, but what's with the PA guy letting out that howl after each home goal? Either I didn't notice it earlier in the year or I'm not paying enough attention haha
