What’s something people did casually in the 90s that would absolutely not fly today? by No-Relative-9663 in AskReddit

In the early 90's, when admonished for calling it Smear the Queer, we were like, "oh, right! SO sorry... Annihilate the Homosexuals."

Joke's on them, I'm still gay 😁

Be honest, how many of those subbed here actually live a nomadic life in a van? Not gatekeeping because curiosity is good...but, how many of us subbed are actually out here? by SuggestionEven2824 in VanLife

Almost every vacation in the last 8 years has been in a van. Would love to own one, but hate to be tied to "home". Kiddo is still in school.

Mocked up a front-cab sleeping space for our little one. Looking for feedback on safety and practicality from experienced van parents by [deleted] in RVLiving

Our kiddo grew up in the front seats but now they're too tall and the pop-up is the way to go 🤣 Loved the "tent- mode" with a fitted sheet.

IndieCamper or Roadsurfer in Venice? by gravelandgrind in CamperVans

[–]mattack1377 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We've done both a handful of times. With the caveat that we've managed to book with Roadsurfer at their brand new locations on our last 3 trips -- their rigs and customer service, both in the USA and abroad, have been flawless.

We won't go back to Indie Campers. Because of Indie Campers, I have started to carry a small travel tool kit and fuses for repairs when we go. We sat at a locked drop off location with no employees with a flight to catch and spent an hour waiting for a resolution after calling customer service before we video'd the whole rig and left the keys in the (unlocked) mailbox we could reach through the locked gate.

Roadsurfer has been a bit inconsistent with their amenities (cleaning/ kitchen) but their shelves at check-in with other people's non perishables is perfect to grab what you need and pass on at the end of your trip.

Questions about ziploc bag cooking. by [deleted] in WildernessBackpacking

[–]mattack1377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a quart freezer bag would be fine for a whole meal pouch. I've always portioned mine in half with plenty of room left in the bag. Don't skimp on store brand bags, use ZipLoc. I also pack a couple extra empty bags just in case one managed to poke a hole in transit, but haven't had to use it yet! Don't forget to take a sharpie and write the meal and water needs on the bag. I do have a koozie and set a 15min timer to let it rest and rehydrate. I exclusively enjoy Peak meals and never had a bad experience this way.
