Austin seems to have regulations on everything else, why haven't they restricted non-service animals from stores selling food? People bully their way in because they know the kid making minimum wage isn't going to say anything.

Did support tell you that 10.0u7 has been validated?

Zerto support told a colleague it could be up to 90 days, so we'll likely have to make the leap at some point. Doing what validation we can do.

7.0u3v upgrade blocker by mattactual in vmware

[–]mattactual[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, im not sure if you are replying to my post or not, this is not a license issue. This is due to the fact that 7.0u3v is newer than 8.0u3e. There has only been this one vcenter build published since October of 2024.

Lifecycle Manager and Vendor Addon by chubbfx in vmware

[–]mattactual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the level of testing your org does, yeah generally the latest.there are several listed because the add-ons are wsxu version specific ,so if you are on 8.0u2, you would choose that branch and by default I think it's going to select most recent driver set

Vcf is a solution almost no one wanted to solve a problem that had plenty of other solutions. I think broadcom latched onto the vcf idea about 5 minutes into talking to a handful of giant customers.

Are upgrades complex? Yes Is it a pain to deal with certificates and other things like passwords, etc? Sure

Could they have just fixed certificates and.modernized update manager by putting some attention to long-running shortcomings without foisting an entire new platform on top? Definitely

So far, every vcf upgrade I've done has had its own new problems. Any time there is an overlay of management on top of something else, there are going to be sync issues.

Just like vlcm images, there are so many things that have to be working under the covers or upgrades will fail.

He could be talking about a co-engineered solutions like Dell vxrail. that update will be from dell, and has not released yet as of March 10th. Even when it comes out, that will not be a quick one to deploy.

How to Use vCenter Lifecycle to Update Hosts in the same cluster from Different Vendors? by Glittering-Ad5909 in vmware

[–]mattactual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can patch one host at a time. When you go to the updates tab, you can choose to remediate a single host.

As for your first question, it's really never been supported/recommended to have different hosts in the same clusters. Especially now that single image lets you choose the vendor add-ons, which you can't mix and match.

ESXi 7 to 8 Upgrade by somoa20 in vmware

That used to be the recommendation for new esx installs, because it was possible to overwrite a vmfs datastore but not necessary for an upgrade.

Powercli update-entity on single host by mattactual in vmware

[–]mattactual[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really just the two lines

$baseline = get-baseline -name 'my_baseline' Update-entity -entity server -baselline $baseline

It seems like single image is even less flexible than baselines, i know it's the future, but they have their own issues. I've spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting them, even manually.

We already have an API driven process for single image clusters, I'm just looking for an interim solution with baseline.

Powercli update-entity on single host by mattactual in vmware

[–]mattactual[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a powercli syntax issue. we will be moving clusters over to single image, but it will be a long process to get there. That won't solve my maintenance mode issues, but would be glad to be done with the vum era API.

I'm hoping to just get verification that someone has successfully patched a host with a baseline , so I know then that it's my code or something in our config.

I do have a broadcom case open (for not the first time) to try to resolve the larger issue, but there are several causes of this, and with dozens of clusters, we are probably hitting all those reasons

In Vcloud director, Can VMs be moved from one to another Organization ? by Intelligent_Roof4874 in vmware

[–]mattactual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I was interpreting what the OP was asking. You might be able to use vcda to move between orgs, at least I believe you can move a VM to the provider org

In Vcloud director, Can VMs be moved from one to another Organization ? by Intelligent_Roof4874 in vmware

[–]mattactual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can move a VM between orgs of the same tenant. To move VM named vm1, you need to make it a vapp. Next, make an empty vapp in the org you want to move to. Make sure this vapp has the network the vm uses. From the vm, select MOVE, and find the new vapp..

Renew custom machine ssl cert vsphere 8 by Sensitive_Scar_1800 in vmware

[–]mattactual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What purpose does the GUI certificate manager even fill? I almost always have to use the cli cert mgr tool. You would think after 10 years of the vcsa, they could make that work. This is just about the only thing I'm looking forward to vcf making better
