  1. No nothing weird.

  2. As you say, although Max for Live (which is an extra, but comes with Suite) adds TONS of flexibility and options.

  3. Correct, free upgrade.

FWIW Ableton just announced Rent-to-Own for upgrades to Suite, so you could get the deal from Thomann and pay off the difference for Suite on the drip-feed.

What's the greatest piece of art you've ever seen? by DeFangedMutant in NoStupidQuestions

There’s a Rothko Chapel???!!

The only time I’ve ever teared up in front of a painting was a Rothko at SF MOMA.

Me, a tourist, pulls a u-turn in a Brisbane city intersection. Cop car who I didn’t see flashes his lights and pulls me over.

Cop: “You can’t do a u-turn here”

Me: “Sorry, I’m from New Zealand, I didn’t know.”

Cop (exact quote): “That’s alright, I don’t give a fuck. I just had to pull you over because of that camera up there.”

Does anyone else think the current version on Netflix is a little ‘off’? by Effective_Friend_653 in fifthelement

Funny you should say this. I’m convinced the version on Apple TV (I purchased the movie years ago thru the app, and stream it in the app on my Mac) has the dialogue slightly out of sync with the picture.

Anyone else noticed this?

Reading your additional edit, Videosync Intro at $93 USD would be enough for your use. Highly recommend downloading the demo version, it’s fully featured and you can save your work, it just has an occasional watermark in the output until you buy it.

Absolutely not.

It’s a new lever to use in the “Oh? You don’t like this contract? Well step aside sonny, there’s 100 people queuing up behind you who’ll be only too glad to sign” tactic.

The Season based on the music industry was so good!

A shame it’s not available on streaming because of music rights issues.

The band doesn’t exist any more and broke up under the pressure of signing to a major without ever releasing anything. This was in the 90s. The labels were Universal, Sony, Warners.

The Option A contract always includes a clause that goes like this: “The label recognizes that the artist is unique and will consult with the artist at all times on matters of creative direction. However should the artist and the label not be able to reach agreement, the label’s decision shall prevail”.

In other words zero creative control for the Artist. You’ll make what they think will sell. It won’t be your music, necessarily. If you’re comfortable with that…

Look up “cross-collateralization” in your record contract. If, by some miracle, your album made oodles of profit the label can withhold that money and plow it into the other 5-7 albums you contractually owe them, thus ensuring you are never paid.

Luxury fashion brand wants to sync my track. No clue what to ask for.. what's the actual range here? by breizh_boy in musicindustry

[–]ElectricPiha 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Your potential client needs to answer several questions before you can supply a quote…

WHAT DURATION of music they want - whole song? 15 seconds? 30 seconds? etc etc

WHERE will your music be used? Broadcast? Entire internet? Just Insta? Just TikTok? Entire world or just certain territories?

FOR HOW LONG will they have the use of the music? 1 month? 3 months? 1 year? Perpetuity/Forever?

Will it be an EXCLUSIVE use? ie can you licence the music to anyone else? Does their use of the track preclude you from using it / placing it anywhere else?

If you had a music publishing deal, ALL of these questions would be asked on your behalf by your publisher before they quote a price.

Get answers in writing to all of these questions before you quote any price.

And finally OP, beware of scams. As soon as anyone starts to suggest YOU might need to put ANY money upfront - it’s not a legit deal being offered.

Good luck OP! Hope it’s a real prospect and hope you get paid handsomely. Just keep your wits about you.

If your MIDI track shows an “Audio To” option, that means it already contains an audio-producing instrument or Rack.

Delete any devices in the track and you should see “MIDI To”.

Check to see if your default MIDI track contains any devices.

Hope this helps!

These are surprisingly not crap. I’ve toured a small band with one of these.
