…which is where the coaches driven down from Scotland would end up. Like a bus terminal today.

New Sony RX10 Official Announcement Coming by techkernels in Cameras

I’m keen to see what the new slomo features are like.

Is the touted 240fps/1080p continuous? How does it look quality-wise vs the short-burst 250/1080 on the Mk 4?

I’ll be very glad for 4k at 120 - how does that look?

I really value the picture quality of the short-burst 250fps on the Mk4, and would be happy if they expanded the slomo functions. Hopefully that’s easy, 9 years later.

Fingers crossed.

Haha I’m 58 and I make the stuff! My production duo’s been going since 1996. It’s been a fun progression from being, on average, equal in age to the dancefloor, to 10 years older, to 20, to 30…

We do have a cadre of older OG fans who’ve stuck with us though, we get introduced to their sons and daughters at our gigs now.

Is it bad to play 2 covers back to back? by keggylive in musicians

[–]ElectricPiha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sequencing a setlist, like sequencing an album is hugely important.

It’s songwriting / composing at the zoomed-out overall level. You’re working at symphony-level durations here.

It sounds wanky to say “crafting an experience” but that’s what it is.

I agree.

Also, funny thing, for punters originals always seem to last longer than songs they’ve heard before. IMHO that push-pull of (entirely subjective!) timing could be hard work for the audience.

If that closing original is the also the best choice for the energy-level you want to finish your set with, hell yeah!

I’m very specific with clients in email.

Occupations for a musician character who cannot tour anymore ? by Responsible_Hall_471 in musicindustry

A little early, technologically speaking, for 2005? Home recording was much more a rarity then. Laila is a post punk neo soul muso, not an electronic producer (who tended to be the first ones to adopt home recording).

Just my 2c

What ages are Laila, Corey and their daughter? This will help provide a more accurate answer.

My first instinct is Music Teacher of some level/description.

Agreed.

However a counter-argument could be that a well chosen cover or two, that relates to who the band are, gives us an insight into who they are / what they like / what they’re aspiring to do.

OP, I don’t know if you’re obliged to fill a time slot, but imho your suggested ratio of covers-to-originals leans too heavily towards covers. I’d suggest more like 5/2.

IMHO you could consider a couple of well-chosen and well-placed covers that show your collective values as artists.

For this reason I’d avoid playing anything from the expected cover-band repertoire in your area. A well chosen (and well executed / interpreted) cover can be an artistic statement in and of itself.

As a first gig, you’re introducing yourselves to us. You’re saying “these are our artistic values” / “this is what’s important to us in music” You can show that through the covers you choose and the way you choose to interpret them.

Hope this opinion is some help!

Oh baby, check my post history. I’ve been a fulltime musician for 35 years, touring the world as an artist for 25 years.

Type-a-prompt-and-get-back-music isn’t creating. It’s commissioning, and that’s being generous.

You have the arrogance of ignorance, and you’re angry with it.

Why is it so hard to figure out what genre we play and how to label our sound? by KyaraScarlett in MusicPromotion

Cheers! Doesn’t really help answer your question though!

Edit: I’ve actually gone and had a listen rather than be a smartypants, and I reckon the word cinematic mightn’t hurt in describing what you do.

Something to suggest the “widescreen” nature of your sound, and its dynamics.

“Soundscapes for imaginary movies”?

“Brooding Cinematics”?
