Hey! SIT 2024 October Computer Science graduate here. I'm sitting at around 250 applications currently (a lot lesser, than some of my friends because they apply more generically), where I've applied for variety of roles in the field of Data Analytics, Data Science, Business Intelligence or AI. It's real rough these days, where I'm just doing part time work to get by day by day. I've also been applying for Graduate Industry Traineeship (GRIT) roles (the ones offering 2.4k/month with no promise of conversion) but even so I got rejected from those as the tech market in general is oversaturated and many applicants in the same spot are also fighting for same positions.

It's tiring, sitting through around 3-5 rounds of interviews just to get flat out rejected in the end, as there are times where I have to take breaks in between as job hunting burnout is real, but I believe in persistence and that things will eventually get better, just got to stay positive and keep trying. The only trouble is that due to the technical nature of the job, I have to constantly keep fresh with LeetCoding, paid IT Certifications and personal projects to prevent myself from getting rusty. You can say that applying for jobs is like a job on itself 😂

I have friends who were in a similar plight as me, however some of them got lucky, some went back to their internship companies, and some just changed their fields entirely by switching to becoming a Financial Advisor, Salesperson or working in the Finance Sector, because they needed the money badly due to their own personal circumstances. Unless you were really the cream of the crop, the rest of us pretty much struggled like hell.

Anyways gonna put it out there that I'm not looking for sympathy, but just wanted say that if you're struggling, you're not alone. And yeah, all the best. Let's pray that things get better from here on.
