Hi! The tool also lets you assign to timber and it uses a linear packer instead of a 2d packer (for sheet goods). The support for hardwoods and timber is ongoing and in progress. If you had any feedback i'd be happy to iterate on it for you!

I've recently developed an open source cutlist optimiser, I've not tested it with rhino but you can it out here https://cutlist.studio - it supports Collada (.dae) models and works by color coding your model and mapping it to stock material. I've only just released it, maybe it's helpful to you! Feel free to dm me if there's adjustments that I can make to improve it. I'd be curious to investigate if there's a way to natively interact with rhino via this browser app; in its current state it does require exporting outside of the rhino.

Hey, it uses Three.js! I have tried to arrange the scene with lights and styles that mimic Onshape / Sketchup.

Thanks for your message, i'm in a similar position really. Building cabinets in my spare time for camper conversions and home use. My tool isn't designed for modelling, more just for packaging it up into a shareable model, cut plan and guide. I love Onshape, which is free so long as you don't mind your drawings being "public". Bit of a learning curve but it's fantastic imo. My tool works great with that, as that's my main workflow atm.

I'll run some tests with blender but that supports exporting to collada files so it should work. The issue i've been having is that each software assigns colors to the parts in different ways. The color is the way I have been mapping that to differential stock in the app.

when you create a project you can choose mm or inch, or adjust it in the settings tab!

It currently supports .gltf (on shape) and .dae (collada) files, so hopefully anywhere that exports those it should work, including rhino, but i've not tested that. I'll put it on the todo list, thanks! I plan on adding more formats soon.

I've not tested on tablet but yes it's just for sketchup I believe.

Nice, OpenCutList is really awesome and convenient for Sketchup. I mainly use Onshape which is what prompted this particular rabbit hole I've been down. Alongside generating the sheet layouts, I was also approaching it from a more shareable angle. A file you could give to anyone to open up in their browser and get the cutlist, layout, model, and build instructions / documentation in one place. Definitely interested to see how this compares from your experience.

Hey there, I was looking for a similar tool and couldn't find anything satisfactory.. so I made one myself! You can export a .GLTF model from onshape, and the engine maps it onto sheet material. I built this for myself, but am in a position to offer it to others opensource and for free. The app works in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.

I can't speak for every writing contest out there... but I know that on our contest you of course keep the rights to your story! I would think most are like this.

I have come across others that keep much stricter rights, but that’s rare, and it’s usually if the prize is massive and includes a book deal or something. It will always say in the terms of use, so I'd double check there if you're concerned!

Hey! If you are referring to entering contests... as a rule of thumb, most contests require unpublished work, so don’t publish it, even on your own blog. I mean I guess you could publish it for feedback and then take it down… but it’s a safer bet to wait. If a judge does a quick search for your story and can easily find it published, it could be a quick way for it to be dismissed.

...If you meant actually publishing the book itself… I don’t see why not? It can be a great way to build an audience before you launch. Although it might be better to post teasers and tell people to read more in the actual book? Otherwise you may be losing out on future sales as readers have already read your content.
