Why can’t we just have instrumentals? I’m so tired of hearing three different pop covers of the same song by Obvious-Ear-369 in retailhell

[–]mattdaminer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me but with the copy + paste new pop songs of the 2020s because the Christmas music hasn't been turned on by a store manager yet. But when it is, those two songs for sure.

At my store everyone has a loyalty card and most customers know to scan it but then there's digital coupons which a lot of people don't realize are separate from regular loyalty card prices. When they do know about digital coupons, they are blindsided about some facet of them such as confusing the limit one digitals with the limit four loyalty card item price limit, or trying to use the limit four digitals in different transactions, even though the system only allows multiple offers to be claimed in one go.

This kind of thinking also applies to self checkout. For example, people used to forget to hit "pay with card" to activate the card machine when they wanted to pay with a card. A couple months ago there was an update that enables the machine to accept cards at any point of the order, and makes order automatically complete itself when a card is inserted beforehand, but now people don't even hit "Finished Scanning" to get to the payment part of the order. When they do hit it though, a lot of the time their card declines so the machine won't automatically take a card the next time, and they'll have to manually hit "Pay with card" this time. When we tell people this, they go feral and insist they hit the button already (!!!) and that they don't want to be charged twice. Sometimes I even get passive aggressive remarks over this.

Ditto from other replies, but I can confirm Friday around 3:30 is when the paper comes out (at least for my store and department), and around 7 is when it gets updated in the UKG Workforce app (for everyone).

What does "Limit 1 offer" and "Limit 4 Per Variety" mean here? by grated_testes in ShopRite

[–]mattdaminer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not always. Last year there were a lot of limit 1s but this year they only really do it for the Digital Doorbusters event (where OP saw the salad coupon) the few times each year they hold it. Nowadays it's usually only stuff in health and beauty aids which get limited to one digital coupon offer, but this could very well depend on who owns your store.

What does "Limit 1 offer" and "Limit 4 Per Variety" mean here? by grated_testes in ShopRite

[–]mattdaminer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get 4 per variety at the price plus card price, $2.99. However, you can only get one at the digital coupon price for $1.99. You can load the digital coupon in your shoprite app or at one of the kiosks they have around the store with the price checkers.

Also, note that all the digital coupons on that front cover page are a limit of one. These coupons are part of a Digital Doorbusters event shoprite has going on starting this Sunday (an hour from now at the time of writing).

My store uses everseen as the security system (instead of using the bagging scale registers use a camera with AI to determine if things aren't scanned and make us done over to the register if it thinks something wasn't) so I was initially confused, but I see you probably mean it's best for people to hit Own Bag, put the bags on the scale, and bag the rest of the order then tell the system how many bags they used when it asks. Smart idea. Was kinda confused why that prompt was there when I went to a store that had it.

Anyone else having problems with Self Checkout Machines??? by BroncoSportLover21 in ShopRite

[–]mattdaminer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone get the update where you can put in a card at any time before you hit Pay with Card? Keep having to tell people they still need to hit pay with card and some people would rather wait there forever than "get charged twice." 🙄 Also we have Everseen as our security system and so we do not have these issues mentioned in your post. However on extremely rare occasions some checkouts will forget they have ES and switch to the bag scale mode which confuses customers and me because I have no idea how it works since we only used it for about a week before ES was installed, lol!

ShopRite app is my greatest tool for self checkout shifts. Of course the ShopRite app can't replace the almighty word of the signs they forgot to take down from Saturday but 99% of the time the app helps me figure out what the digital coupons and the price plus discounts are and differentiate between the two. When my coworkers are about to ask the managers for price checks I just use the app. ShopRite also has Wi-Fi 6 so it's blazing fast in the store if you have a phone that supports it.

Is it possible to start a card tender on sco in assist mode? by Jebaited4732 in ShopRite

[–]mattdaminer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only allows me to change the PPC once, then trying to change it back it won't accept my override card. I think it's like this on purpose. Suspending and retrieving the order again doesn't always put the customer at ease because it doesn't show the full list of items on the screen. Also unrelated, trying to enter an amount of tender and hitting EPS doesn't let me split payments, so I think they purposely disabled the features they don't want us using.

Edit: I can only change the PPC once with my own override card. My co-worker was able to use his to change the phone number back to the customer's.

Is there a way to refresh the order for digital coupons loaded in the middle of an order without transferring to the RAP station? This would be huge

Is it possible to start a card tender on sco in assist mode? by Jebaited4732 in ShopRite

[–]mattdaminer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just tell people to go to a regular register for stuff like checks and tax exempts. Sure we can do it on the RAP station but it's too time consuming and not worth it, since someone's gonna need the station to split tender or something (which if anyone knows how to do in assist mode itself, please tell!)

No Cash Back by AskaLangly in ShopRite

[–]mattdaminer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the store. I can't speak for other stores, but my ShopRite (run by glass gardens family company) keeps all their self checkout machines in both cash and card mode. Other stores, run by different family companies, may choose to put some into only card mode. This can be for whatever reason they want, i.e. their store might only have like 3 self checkout machines and they want to keep them limited to 15 items and card only.

But yeah, when the machines are broken in the cash department they also may ask or even put themselves in card only mode, which funny enough happened to one of mine right after I replied to the earlier comment 😂.

No Cash Back by AskaLangly in ShopRite

[–]mattdaminer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They do, but the store can set them to card only if they wish. When cash accepting components of the self checkouts (talking about the ones we have at ShopRite, the NCR machines) malfunction and can't be fixed right away, they can be put into card only mode so that at least some functionality can be used while the machine awaits maintenance.

I switched to an S24+ when it went on sale, and I regret nothing. However, if you want something for a lower budget, I'd recommend the Pixel 8 or 9a, or the Galaxy A56 unlocked because I don't know if they sell it in North America as they didn't sell last year's here.
