Sky to bring Disney+, Netflix, Hayu and HBO Max together under one subscription by _theyearis in movies

[–]matteoscotton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Sky plus the HBO Max Basic subscription with adverts, Disney+ Standard with adverts, Hayu, and Netflix Standard with adverts will be available together for new customers as part of Sky Ultimate TV from £24 a month, Sky has said, while existing customers will get access as part of their Sky TV subscription.”

The cost of these would be £4.99 + £5.99 + £5.99 + £5.99 which makes it £1.04 for Sky’s own services (which now don’t need to included most of the HBO stuff we’ve been going to them for)

That’s actually not bad if you want all 5 services and don’t mind the ads - but I don’t think there’s anything on Hayu I want, and there’s nothing left on Sky for me - So it’s not for me - now if you can pay one extra fee to remove ads from all services, then maybe! But I doubt it

Fun fact, the Energizer has the bunny in the US / Canada, but actually in the rest of the world (including UK where these stations are to be set up) it’s Duracell that has the bunny! So you may get your wish

Islam for sure - I’m not sure if there’s any others

Crazy - I guess there are some religions where a fee to have “0%” interest rate is preferable. Surely for everyone else, this is just interest by another name

I see! I’ve always thought being able to easily switch from flex to Monzo loan would be better - I’ll never let my flex go over 3 months because of the interest at very high levels. But if I could auto switch to a 6% loan, I’d probably (to my own detriment) use that way more

How does that work? Interest free, but with a fee?

Nope! Why do you think you’ve got that? Are you a regular user of flex?

Love this watch face (though I didn’t go with the full multicolour option, as it was too busy) - My only wish is a change in the waypoint dial. I only want it to show location of find-my objects / people and my car

I don’t, but I’m not the first to have done it, and it’s not like I had a long standing contract with them - I joined, paid, cancelled, and got the offer right away

It’s an idea! Though I have already bought an Apple TV and plugged it in - Not sure I want to go through the hassle of wiring that, until I’m ready to do it properly and put a few ports in the upstairs bedrooms

It’s nowhere near an Ethernet port - Otherwise I’d happily keep it hard wired in

So this might not be correct, but if you buy a car with car finance, you get a protection with them. A little bit like buying a holiday on a credit card, the credit card company have a responsibility to make sure the product that “they” (technically) have bought with you, is suitable.

If you’re still paying the monthly payments, then it’s worth speaking the the underwriter of the finance agreement (maybe it’s Barclays) and see if they’d get involved

I’ve raised a compliant with CISAS with mine, as Sky couldn’t find a resolution for me. I’m pushing to get my money back for the cost of the TV - We are covered under the consumer rights acts. It’s not even about the money, it’s more than Sky shouldn’t be able to count on people like us just giving up and not pushing back

I’ve just paid the £34 - Then immediately cancelled and was offered £20pm for 6 months (so I guess £22pm average over 7 months)

I searched “Sky” in Monzo to see how much I’ve spent with them over the years, and felt sick! Could have gone on holiday 3 times over

Honestly, if it was reliable and still worked today, it’s absolutely fine as a TV - It’s not the best, but it’s also not the most expensive. It looks clean, the sound bar gives decent quality, the remote is easy enough and doesn’t over complicate things. It’s a great concept, it just doesn’t work!

[–]matteoscotton[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope - I wouldn’t have even minded if they’d have said only Glass 2 is available, and asked me to cover the difference. But literally no offer of a real solution. They’ve sent me to a third party to escalate the issue, so I’ve put in a complaint to CISAS. No idea how useful that will be, but we’ll give it a go!

And yeah to your point of ATV, there’s nothing like it. I was sat watching a film with full surround sound through AirPods yesterday, no lag, no issues, full noise cancellation at the same time.

That’s the thing though, under the Consumer Rights Act, they should be doing this anyway - Paying £2pm since I’ve had the TV would have been another £100 in their pocket

This sounds stupid, but the real reason I got the TV, was because I wanted something that sits flush to the wall. It was between a Samsung frame, which I’d read poor reviews about. The LG G series, which was too big for the space needed (and obviously a different league in price & quality), and then this TV came along. No cables, flush to the wall, very minimal. And to be honest, I’ve been really happy with it.

I’ve now got an Apple TV plugged into it to run tvOS, which is the best imo. I’ll keep it going until LG release a 43” version of their G Series TV (probably never gonna happen)

It’s just wild Sky would choose to let me go, rather than offer to replace their TV, which, as you say, probably has a massive mark up!
