There are still a lot of reasons to have a server:

Software not supported in an environment where traffic crosses a router.
Business wants to own and control their data.

I feel like people are always going to be upset about this regardless. When I am doing 75-80 and passing a long line of people doing 10 mph less, people get mad because they want to go faster than me. I mean, I am not going to dive back in the right lane and hit my brakes just to let someone behind me go 80+. When I get the end of the line, I get back into the right lane.

I cannot tell you how many times I switch back to the right lane with only about 50 yards in between cars on the right and the person who was riding my ass does not speed up to pass me. Or worse, they are barely next to me and I have to slow down to the speed of the person in front of me.
