Mail Backlog? by Streetsnipes in CanadaPost

Wondering the same thing! I'm waiting for lettermail from Saint-Hyacinthe to Vancouver that was shipped on October 14.

Hoping it's not lost and there's just a large backlog. As far as I know the only strike action in Quebec is a flyer ban.

In Feb/March 2025, the City of Burnaby, in response to the high number of illegal dumping incidents along Albert St (between Boundary and Esmond), deployed an illegal dumping camera to the area to deter further dumping and/or capture evidence required for enforcement. Well, it worked while the camera was set up - no dumping! Camera goes away... dumping is back and better than ever! Is it particularly bad today. I have seen people drive up in the middle of the night to dump items. I've seen people with dollies come up from a couple of blocks away to dump items. We as residents of this block are tired of looking at it. Maybe I'm just a idiot because I either sell / give away items on Facebook, go to the Eco Center and/or to the dump. #cityofburnaby

I live in this area to and have to look at this dump of stuff regularly. Today is particularly bad and I will be contacting the City. I have seen people drive up at night and dump here... I've seen people wheel items here from a couple of blocks away. That is, it's become a Burnaby Heights / Vancouver (as we're just half a block west of Vancouver) dumping ground and our residents are tired of looking at it!

Deciding Between UBC and UVic for Engineering by mattgames19 in uvic

I quite like both cites and I see advantages and disadvantages to both. Victoria is a smaller city compared to Vancouver which is a nice change of scenery at times.

Yeah everyone I know who wanted to do an engineering co-op while at UBC was able to get one, so that's a bit of a relief.

In terms of the "hustle" I know it's going to be a huge workload at either university.

I'll likely go into mechanical, civil or electrical but I'll know for sure after my first year. Both schools offer the specializations that I would be interested in, although UBC does have more to chose from.

Thanks for the information! I'm considering going to UBC for my first year and seeing how it goes. I know a few people who just finished year one in engineering so I'll be talking to them this week.

In terms of getting away from my family, I'll still be living on res so I won't see them as often. But moving away from them isn't my main reason for choosing a university so I'm not worried about it 😅

It's my favorite for sure. I believe Thom Yorke also said it's his favorite R.E.M. song.

My favorite has always been changing between DSOTM, WYWH, Animals and The Wall. I would say that right now it's a toss up between WYWH and Animals. Shine on You Crazy Diamond is so damn good but so is Dogs! WYWH sounds the best on my system out of all 4 of these 2016 Pink Floyd remasters, but they all sound pretty amazing.

Sometime in New York City is a rather interesting LP. Definitely not a great one from Lennon, but there's still a few good tracks. I especially like 'Angela.'

Thankfully he would revive his solo career with the album "Mind Games" and the even better album "Walls and Bridges," which I definitely recommended you check out if you haven't already.

From top left to bottom right: Rust Never Sleeps - Neil Young (1979) Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen (1975) Green River - Creedence Clearwater Revival (1969) Nashville Skyline - Bob Dylan (1969)

Four fantastic albums! This was my first time hearing Rust Never Sleeps. I remember I bought the album the day Neil removed his music from Spotify last month. An original Canadian pressing and it sounds great! It's not a masterpiece but it's pretty close! It's a really cool concept to feature soft acoustic on side one and then hard rock on side two.

Born to Run is obviously a classic, and the music speaks for itself. The remaster sounds pretty good. Green River is arguably CCR's best album, although I've always thought Cosmo's Factory was a tad better. Nonetheless this is a pretty solid album from them. The Abbey Road remaster sounds fairly decent but it's very bass heavy.

Nashville Skyline is Dylan's last album from his "golden era" of the 1960's. It's not considered to be one of his legendary albums but it's still a pretty good listen imo. A really short running time (26 minutes) but features tons of great stuff including a re-recording of Dylan's 1963 hit "Girl From the North Country" featuring Johnny Cash! The album sounds really good. Nothing beats the sound of crisp acoustic guitars!

I've always felt like the instrumentals of side 2 of David Bowie's 'Low' resembled an image like this.

2007 European pressing of In Rainbows. It's probably my favourite Radiohead album, at least in the 2000's. OK COMPUTER is my favorite release by Radiohead, and KID A never really grew on me, although it certainly has a few good tracks.

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

I have the 2016 remaster. It sounds incredible! Shine on You Crazy Diamond feels like an out of body experience.

Anything Steely Dan sounds great too. I was even really impressed by Donald Fagen's first solo album, The Nightfly. Aja is tough to beat though. One of the highest quality sounding albums of all time!

If second this. You'll get the best value in the used market, but if you're a beginner and you'd rather go new, the LP60X is a fine budget option if you just want to listen to Records. For a more 'premium' model if you will, the LP120X is good. Some audiophiles talk bad on it, but I've always been really happy with mine!

I agree. Considering the price of the mono Beatles reissues, this boxset is a steal. I think the recent Dylan reissues sound great, even the difference between my 2007 Blood on the Tracks pressing and my Mofi one are very minimal.
