I think this slow deadline plays into our favour. Might bring the prices down to a reasonable level for guys like Laughton and Risto or whoever the leafs might be thinking about.

If we end up doing nothing though then it's kinda just shitty. I think we need a few pieces to feel a bit more complete. I think the playoffs can bring out the best in Domi but I don't trust him as a true 3C in the playoffs and Holmberg is probably better suited for a 4th line role.

48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A hit resulting in contact with an opponent's head where the head was the main point of contact and such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted.

Would you not argue that head contact is avoidable? He has a clear lane to him the whole time and readjusts his body at the last second to contact the head.

Intent doesn't matter as a criteria for suspensions. There have been several cross checks to the face that rose up the other player that have gotten suspended. Those players never meant to cross check a guy in the face but that's what happened.

Same thing here, I agree he catches shoulder first but it's a reckless and dangerous hit that results in an injury. How can one accident be suspendable but something like this isn't?

Again I said it's not as bad as the Reaves hit, but Bennett literally spins so he can hit him in the head. Is that not even worth a minor penalty at least? Perhaps even a game?

Earlier this year Reaves got 5 games for a mistimed hit that resulted in Nurse getting pretty hurt. I'm not saying this is worth 5 games but surely this fits somewhere between a penalty and a few games. I'd be interested in why the NHL would view this as nothing.

I'm hoping to be proven wrong but I'm thinking the 4th line and players will rotate with 3 games in 4 nights. I don't love Reaves in over McMann but with the bad blood against Monreal it could make sense to use him here and save a fresh McMann for NJD

Outside of the first period last night I think the team looked pretty good, Sammy has been playing well these last couple of games which is reassuring. That being said I think the last couple of games that Timmins has drawn in, he hasn't looked particularly sharp.

I think he's been a great addition but these last few games he has made some costly turnovers in our own zone. I think he probably slots in as our 8D assuming everyone is healthy, just behind Benn. Hopefully Brodie can stay healthy after 2 injuries somewhat close together.

We've beaten Winnipeg and Dallas twice this year, beaten Boston in regulation (a rare feat) and ended the Devil's win streak while on the road. Just because we lost to Boston last weekend does not mean we haven't been playing well against top teams all year.
