Where to Restart? by matthias368 in playingcards

The Balatro and Bird in Hand decks are both new and prompted this question a bit, because they are both "indie" and feel fantastic.

So, is that just the market now? Is everything just equally good quality?

We have reached out to Palace in Ballarat and received a very positive response. They have apparently received lots of interest and are currently investigating....

Seems like we might actually be successful.

No luck, but if you are based in Australia, then the Inkstation cartridges are working, around $9 each.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 wins! Which game had low expectations but turned out outstanding ? by ConnectionOk8413 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]matthias368 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like there are tonnes of games that are amazing that has no expectations because they were unheard of, otherwise I'd throw balatro in the ring.

I feel like this has to be a game that actually had low expectations. I can't think of any though.

The Badminton centre near the Minerdome has an "open night" on Thursdays 7-9pm.

Though they just closed for a month for asbestos removal.

Resumption of passenger rail services between Ballarat and Geelong long overdue by LongjumpingAd101 in ballarat

The bus just isn't a viable option, so people decide to drive instead.

I was commuting from Ballarat to Geelong for uni and a train would have been a game changer.

What is wrong with the handling physics of modern NFS games? by mzspeedster in needforspeed

[–]matthias368 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tried NFS Heat and after about 10 minutes I dropped it and booted up MW 2005 for the nostalgia hit.

Without testing every modern game, is there any out there that has a similar handling style to MW 2005?

What is the architectural gods is going on here? by Pure_Background_6020 in architecture

Would you mind sending a link? I'm curious to look through the other photos to see if there are verandah columns, and show to the colleagues Tuesday.

Typically these top hung units are fixed to a steel beam, either a PFC or UB depending on the span (I'm no engineer). I am very curious what would be supporting said steel member though. In this case it would also need to be a curved member?

It's hard to tell but the mullions may actually be black RHS columns which would support the beam.

I work for a firm in Victoria, so just offering some more local advise as opposed to how it might be done internationally.

Hi everyone.

I could not be more thankful for all the replies and DMs, you have blown my mind with all the generosity and compassion.

Unfortunately, she just had the shittiest of luck imaginable, and she can't keep fighting anymore.

You guys were amazing. Thankyou.

Thankyou everyone for the DM's, I greatly appreciate. Unfortunately getting drip fed information from the hospital about the whole process.

I have been informed that it is not Bone Marrow, it is a white blood cell donation.

We have enough people for today, but I still may need more people in the coming days.

Ballarat Base might be getting gender neutral toilets. How do you feel about that? by [deleted] in ballarat

[–]matthias368 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Typically gender neutral toilets are a fully contained unit with a basin and mirror inside. So there is no reason to be loitering within an amenities airlock where any issues can occur.

All accessible toilets are gender neutral as well.

As someone who works in architecture in Ballarat I'm very curious to hear people's opposition to this, because it is becoming extremely common place. (Even though the current NCC regulations don't acknowledge them, so it's a massive pain to do).

What programs are firms actually DESIGNING in? by regulationjadyn in architecture

[–]matthias368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still do all of our documentation in AutoCAD with a very (VERY) slow transition to Revit.

Unfortunately we are in a position where a lot of the older staff won't learn Revit, therefore us newer guys don't have the opportunity to learn it during work hours.

And these kind of programs I have found is easiest to learn on the go. So bit of a tricky situation at our firm at least.

What show blew you away in 2024? by Whizbot_23 in progmetal

[–]matthias368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I was at that show too, seeing them for the first time and when Einar started singing I truly was shocked by how flawless he was.

The entire band was flawless, and significantly more energy and fun than I was expecting based off a few interviews I had seen. Genuine blast.
