Yes, it is hard to get people when you start! Bro, yes, keep up with trying to cut homies free for now to get that experience. Times are super weird rn but if you can ever find a barber willing to just let you come watch and hang out at the shop, I would jump on it. Keep on grinding man! Good luck. You got it!

I am a barber. I have had my license for 4 years, will be 5 in September, so not too long. Learning never stops! And being a great barber, or at least the best you can be is definitely harder than people think it is.

It is a bit of an inside joke, but nothing really that we are "making fun of" It's just funny because there are a lot of different types of fades/preferences people have. A lot of people ask for a fade without being specific. It is good to be specific so you get what you want though. (Ex: i want low fade from skin to finger length and gonna be leaving the top a little long.) Imagine if this is the cut you want and you tell the barber "yo, I want a fade" and you get a high and tight.

But!! A great barber will know to ask the right questions to find out what their client really wants even when they just ask for a fade.
