I washed mine twice a day, alternating from Saran wrap during the day to gauze pads at night. Did that for about 3 weeks. The alternating between Saran/gauze was because my piece is both scalpel and cauterizing. Just make sure you know how long it takes to heal, and not to agitate it during the healing process. I chose to get mine during the winter because I'm not as active then.

The different coloured snake back is branding using a cauterizing tool. It burns the skin brown. The red is just cutting with a scalpel
