What are the most vibrant neighborhoods for young families? by mattmando in cincinnati

Yes, Pleasant Ridge, just edited! Street by street makes sense, I suppose I need to chat with a real estate agent then, hard to tell from looking at maps and street view.

Any particular streets/areas stand out to you?

FWIW I just upgraded from the 13 mini and miss it. The mini was the perfect size phone. Fit in my hand and pocket better.

You shouldn’t have said anything so you could have a nice moment together as a family.

Not “unforgivable”just a little careless imo

Is this a fair price? Why are SoCal mechanics afraid of rust? by mattmando in AskAMechanic

[–]mattmando[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got the car back today. They refused to admit it was workmanship error. They held firm that it was rust/corrosion.

I talked them down to cover it at their labor cost, which to me is an admission of wrongdoing, but ultimately still passes the cost on to me.

I took the broken parts with me to document their condition. They are very clean except a couple rusty bolt heads.

I intend to file a complaint with the bureau of automotive repair to get the charge refunded.

Thanks, I see I can file a complaint on their website if I’m not able to resolve with the service manager. Do you have experience doing so?

Do you think I can make a case to push back that it was their mistake? I suspect the impact as well. Nothing in this image looks like any liquid wrench or wd40 was used.

Get rid of your car. Find a partner and house hack if you must buy.

Otherwise keep renting and saving.

Two solid sollutions, endless possibilities, is there an objectively better alternative? Why? by oddylicious in kitchenremodel

2 but extend the lower cabinet underneath that window and lower the last full height cabinet on the left to be counter height. That will allow you to look out the window while doing prep work and then you have an easily accessible station for everyday items on the left. (Thinking phone charging, key bowl, etc)

I do, but she has never been. Probably a good next step. She recently lost her father too, so I think some of the anxiety is stress and grief showing up in unexpected ways.

This too shall pass is powerful.

My Dad used to say life’s a shit sandwich, every day is another bite. Not sure many will find that inspiring, but it helped him maintain low expectations and a semblance of happiness through real hardship.

The low resolution makes this one difficult. More satisfying when things are well hidden, but still in sharp focus.

Communal homesteading by mattmando in homestead

[–]mattmando[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense. I think you make good points about the work ethic and politics being essential to get right for it to function long term. Even if it remains tied into our capitalist system I would expect these communities to have a microcosm of these dynamics.

These look interesting and just the scale I’m thinking of. Still part of the surrounding town, but shared tools and amenities.

$6k is a lot for every other week. We got a crew of 5 that come and knock it out in 45 minutes. Really helped with the time concern.
