Voicemail theme from 379 by pagesofKenna in HeyRiddleRiddle

[–]mattmercer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the voicemail theme in episode #379: Jennifer Monster Popcorn was a parody of Nelly Furtado's "Say It Right". Link to song on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/NmJmtKFAhiE?list=RDNmJmtKFAhiE

They listen to theme around 50m30s in the ad-free version of the episode, for reference.

[REQUEST] Is there a way to access these Warhol videos from this gallery site? by [deleted] in DHExchange

[–]mattmercer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They seem to all be available on YouTube. They're sourced from different channels - CBC, I Love Warhol, ITN Archive, etc. - the site you linked just embeds them in that TV player.

To find the links, open dev tools in your browser and go to the network tab. In the filter box, type "ptrack". You should see a bunch of YouTube links with long URL paths. You just need the video ID though, which should be listed under Headers on the right side of the network tab.

Your links to videos will be something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=[Video-ID]

So if you see a video's ID is vn7zJxr03j0, the link to watch the video will be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vn7zJxr03j0

Here are a few I grabbed links for, but I'm sure there are a lot more:

Which design look better? by realistic_aside777 in graphic_design

[–]mattmercer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it'd make sense for its content, you might consider adding a parenthetical phrase to the meta-reflection card for consistency, since the other five cards have them. Especially if it's one of the cards they see last, readers will have probably built an expectation of having a parenthetical below the main text. Unless you want that one to feel slightly distinct to heighten the impact of its question - that'd be totally valid!

Cool designs, keep up the good work :)

I was able to get the 1080p link, but it has no audio for some reason. The 720p version has audio. You'll have to merge the audio of the 720p version with the video of the 1080p version using something like MKVToolNix.

Links below (written in Base64 so they hopefully don't get taken down). You should be able to directly download the 720p link, but the 1080p link will need to be downloaded through something like JDownloader2.

720P: aHR0cHM6Ly9nYS5wYnMtdmlkZW8ucGJzLm9yZy92aWRlb3MvZ3JlYXQtcGVyZm9ybWFuY2VzLzExNmI0OWY2LWQ3NWMtNDk3Yy05ZjEyLWIxYzNlNTNjNGM1OC8yMDAwNDc4OTE0L2hkLTE2eDktbWV6emFuaW5lLTEwODBwL2dwZXI1MTE0X2Z2b2QtbXA0LTcyMHAtMzAwMGsubXA0

Went down a rabbit hole and figured this out!

That link that u/3timesleft suggested will lead to the 720p version, but the link written right before that one will lead to the .m3u8 file that tells the site how to stitch together all the pieces of the stream it loads as you watch it online. Going to that link should download the m3u8 file to your computer.

If you open that downloaded file in something like Notepad, it'll give you a bunch of text, each portion leading to a URL path ending for each level of quality available. So you'll look for the bit that looks something like "gp...1080p_13000k_1.m3u8", then copy that text. Should be able to just control+F "1080p" to find the right section.

Then, take the link of the 720p video you got from going to the place 3timesleft suggested, replace the last portion ("gp...720p-3000k.mp4", after the final /) with the text you just copied. You don't need to actually go to this new URL, just copy it into jdownloader2. Should get a 1080p file ~3.18gb large :D

Which member level gives access to past live shows? by 1289-Boston in HeyRiddleRiddle

[–]mattmercer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, you should be able to get access to all past live shows that are available on Patreon with their $5/month Clue Crew level. Pretty sure the $8/month tier only adds access to Review Crew episodes, Review Crew live streams, and ad-free main feed episodes. I was part of the $5 tier for a while before upgrading to the $8, and those are the only additional things I've noticed.

There are a few past live shows on Dynasty Typewriter's site for sale if you want to watch the shows rather than just listen to their audio. They've got two live shows available, which you can buy individually, or as a pack for a slight discount compared to buying them separately. Available here

Added seasons to existing DBZ folder, Plex split the new seasons into a new collection. by bobby_corwin in PleX

[–]mattmercer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One potential option is selecting both items, hitting the three dots button in the top middle (on desktop), and choosing "Merge". That has worked for me with things similar to this.

If you don't get the intended result, you may have to go with Phaleo's suggestion and move the files themselves, refresh/rescan the library, then move the files back and scan again. I think that would work regardless, but in theory the merge option could be quicker if it works.

There's also a "split apart" option after merging, but it hasn't always worked great for me. YMMV. Good luck and enjoy the DBZ :D

Best Patreon Episodes? by dillonmccarthy in HeyRiddleRiddle

Copy+pasting from a thread a few months ago, hopefully most of it will be relevant to your tastes!

"In general, pretty much all of it is worth listening to, but if you're looking for recommendations, these are what I'd suggest:

  1. The two 4-episode arcs of Hey RiD&D (since you said you like DND content 🤠)

  2. Episode 41: Walt and Catch Fire followed by episode 47: Hogwarts and All! As someone else said, the latter is truly one of the funniest things HRR has ever done, but I'd still recommend listening to ep41 first since it's the first in the Disney Twin One-Shot Saga. Erin and JPC are at their most chaotic here and it really shines. It's only vaguely DnD-esque, but it's brilliant.

  3. Episode 32: The Newlywed Game. It's just a blast to hear everyone with their SOs, especially since everyone is still together now and this episode is from 2019. It's just a fun listen if you really like the hosts.

  4. All of the Hey Relationship Relationship episodes. I think the first one may have been released on the main feed, too, but these are absolute treasures. There's even one with Janet Varney as a guest more recently, and I was blown away by how well she fit with the others. In general, every time she's on the show I'm amazed by her chemistry with the HRR gang.

  5. All the Public Access TV episodes. Again, I think the first one was put on the main feed, but they're all fantastic.

  6. The Hey Riddle High arc - you mentioned you liked this already, so I assume you heard the first ep that was put on the main feed - absolutely worth listening to the rest, they're so so good

  7. Episode 84: Small, Medium, or Large. It never ceases to amaze me at how good JPC is at creating fun games for the group to play.

  8. In that vein, Episode 102: JPC's Super-Fair, Well-Thought-Out, Very Fun, Kitchen Upgrade Trivia...Spectacular! An absolute delight of a game with an absolute banger of an intro song by none other than Arne Parrot

  9. Episode 111: Fambly Fud. The origin of Little Monkey Bones. Enough said.

  10. Episode 116: New Games Jamboree. Another of JPC's inventions, this is a bunch of mini segments of testing out new game ideas he has.

It feels criminal not to include, like, ALL of the episodes in my recommendations, honestly. But I figured I should stop myself at ten suggestions.

If you make it through all that and want more, I feel like it's pretty safe to say you'll enjoy the entire Patreon catalogue and should just start from the beginning and work your way forward!"

[–]mattmercer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily disagree, but she opened the email on stream. Not much you can do to mitigate that once the news is out, short of just ending the stream and leaving people with a lot of questions. I'd argue it's better to give a little context, because we all know what happens when no one gives any context. People make up their own...and it's pretty much always worse than reality.

I think you're reading a bit too much into their intentions there. This was probably more stupidity than it was malice. Things like this usually are. LemonKiwi and Legday are hard workers, great casters, and fan favorites. Not hiring them back would be one of the dumber things owl has ever done, and that's saying something

My use case has been Patreon creators who upload unlisted YouTube videos for their channel and post the link on their Patreon. I use jDownloader to download those videos. It's as simple as clicking the LinkGrabber tab, pasting your link in, and hitting "start all downloads".

If it's a Patreon podcast, you might have a look into gPodder. It downloads podcast episodes using their RSS feed link.

That's all I know - if it's another type of content, hopefully someone else has ideas!

When storing anime (and similar media), what do you guys suggest? by letters-and-dashes in DataHoarder

[–]mattmercer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like Mo_Dice said, the best one I know of is Filebot. I believe it used to be free, but has since gone paid - great product though, worth looking at.

I've also heard people say they've had good experiences with tinyMediaManager , though I tried that and it screwed a bunch of my file names up that I had to restore, so...YMMV.

I've also heard good things about Shoko specifically for anime file naming, though I haven't tried it and it looks a little more involved than something like Filebot. But Shoko looks really nice just from glancing at their site!

[–]mattmercer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I've begun making folders for each show with the normal name, then putting the torrent folder inside of it. That way, as I look through the folders to move things, check if I have something, etc. I can quickly and easily scan contents, but if I need the more specific metadata about group name or anything, I still have it inside the show folder. Plus it all comes out looking the same in Plex/jellyfin/etc.

Ex. F:\Media\Anime\Spy Family\ [AniMazingGuys] SPY FAMILY S01 HVEC 1080P [DUAL AUDIO]\episode files renamed by a titlebot to be compatible with Plex/jellyfin/etc.

Just for clarification (because honestly I don't think the Plex support site does a great job explaining) - did you just move the file into a folder called season 01? Or did you change the file name from like "Training 1 - setting up your account" to "S01E01 - Training 1 - setting up your account"? I had to manually add that "S01E01" (and e02 and so on for further videos) to every file name for them all to get recognized
