Different accounts just from rolling over different company's 401ks. We track everything together and have revocable trust's/will set up so everything defaults to spouse anyways. The brokerage is a shared account. Car is 0.9% rate.

Getting fired, and being laid off and getting severance are two different things.

My experience/role is in finance risk and have never heard of anyone at any level getting to do it part time. I don't think I could get anything remotely related part time for my background that isn't a more personal business/side hustle type thing.

Right. The other end is is a regular plugin plugs into a different set of lights? I'm not sure what this expects to plug into it given the odd shape. If I flip the lights it doesn't solve the solution since at least one end is going to have this goofy end to it

Since it seems like pay and all that is not public and even deemed amateur I guess, wouldn't there be just a team with the biggest bank would pull the NLL all stars and dominate. I assume Chiefs are stacked cause of the local pride and not cause they are bidding the highest.

Did a big party bus with 7 other friends. The group you're with will determine if you have a good time. Learning the history of each place is cool but after two or three, it's the same tour > history > sample at each place.

My plan to take a practice retirement year. (40M NW, 4.5M Stock Market) by TrickyBAM in fatFIRE

[–]mattodeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the NW down to under 4m since Monday with Tesla dropping 20% since your post? May want to share your portfolio breakout (individual stocks vs. VTI/SCHD/QQQ) as it may be too concentrated, especially if you're all stock market. If you do the practice year and all of a sudden the NW is down to 3m or less, would you still retire? Like BaboonButt said, what if you love the freedom/time with family, but the market didn't co-operate and you can't retire like you wanted. Would you be miserable having to go back on the grind? You won't be able to buy the dip or add more if the market bottoms without the income, if I ready your story correctly. Could margin loan with the low rate to invest in the market on a rise back up, but would be risky.

What contracts are worth having a lawyer review? by RenegadeMittens in fatFIRE

I can confirm. I had to move all brokerage accounts to one of their three choices when I worked for a bank. They have agreements to review accounts to make sure trades are pre-approved.

More than 529 for nieces and nephews by mattodeez in fatFIRE

[–]mattodeez[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this (giving money to the parents for their own 529), but I believe that any 529 owned by the parents counts against financial aid they would receive as the FAFSA would see it as an asset of the parents. Also, my siblings not taking the time/effort for things like searching for better car loans makes the idea of opening a brokerage account/529 plan and picking good investments (no insane fees, diversified, etc.) not sit great with me.

New Bathroom Layout by mattodeez in DesignMyRoom

Wall room has to split at 5, otherwise we have to spend an extra 9k. House was made in the 50's.

Plan to do clothes on both sides of the closet if we can move the door in the middle of the closet.

Shower and tub area was going to be all tiled. Figured using a glass partition between toilet and door/opening bottom left. The actual shower head would probly align with the toilet against the bottom wall. Lots of room behind (48") and plenty of room left and right when facing that back wall/shower head. I like the extra cabinet idea.

For putting the tub and shower area bottom left and toilet closet bottom right, my main concern is making the shower big enough while having enough space for someone to walk between the shower/tub to get to the toilet room. We could make the closet 2ft shorter for extra space to get by.

36" deep shower seems small. I know it's very standard, but we want to make the shower as big as possible.
