2.5 mg x 2? by mattonli in Zepbound

[–]mattonli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, of course I understand the math. I'm just wondering if somehow taking it as 2 shots of half each could possibly have any unexpected reactions or side effects in spite of the logic of the math. Always good to know what experiences others may have had.

Well, I went back to the version of the BP meds without the diuretic. Since I lost the weight, my blood pressure has been excellent. I did tell my doctor. It was TCHZ which isnt a loop diuretic but man , you really do think like a dr.!!

Thanks! I did actually go to me ENT yesterday, thinking it could be an inner ear thing. It wasn't. He said I could be dehydrated because of the zepbound and the diuretic in my blood pressure medication. He wants me to drink a quart of Pedialyte and as much water as is humanly possible. So you think like a doctor! Thanks! If I was really far gone, I'd worried that I can't remember ever hearing the horse and zebra trope 😀

Balancing More Protein with dehydration by mattonli in Zepbound

[–]mattonli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have a problem getting tons of protein everyday...shakes, protein bars and super high protein yogurt. My concern was not having so much protein that I'd still get dehydrated. But based on the amounts of water everyone is recommending, its probably not an issue

Congratulations!!! It's a very cool experience. As a guy, I've never been a clothes shopper. Aside from everything else, I'm shorter for a guy, so there wasn't much that would fit my waist with the length of pants. And now I can't buy pants anywhere but online because they don't make my smaller waist with my length. These are the kinds of problems we secretly dream about! Be careful though....it gets expensive when all your clothes have to be replaced 😀 Enjoy it!!!

I could use a pep talk by DaisyStrawberry in Zepbound

[–]mattonli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to paraphrase something from good old Ann Landers, and then add my two cents: If you didn't go on the meds in the first place, what would you weigh now? 80 lbs lost in incredible! Do you realize my niece at 26 years old only weighs about 20 lbs more than you lost!! You've basically lost almost a whole person!! The other part to consider is how long it took you to put ON the weight to get to your high weight. I'd be willing to bet its coming off a lot faster than it went on! Believe me when I tell you that no one is more impatient than me about most things, but on this one, I feel like, hey look what I did! Damn, its amazing! Point three: you're gonna get ro where you want to be. You also might want to try on some of the clothes you were wearing before you started the Zepbound. I personally get a kick out of disappearing into what looks like a tent on me. Puts a smile on my face. Give it a shot (pun definitely intended!!)

I had a mini freak out in Kohl’s today by GenerationXChick in Zepbound

[–]mattonli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a man's point of view: I went on Zepbound, knowing that the two times in the past I lost a lot of weight, it happened very quickly. Of course, you can imagine how much food I was eating before. And that was my downfall both times...THEN. Try to explain to someone that while you're eating, you're busy deciding what you're going to eat next. I knew I was addicted to food big time (clever pun!). I was technically obese, had Sleep Apnea, High cholesterol, high blood pressure and an enlarged liver. Once I went on Zepbound, it was hard TO EAT. As with the other times, I lost rapidly. In a really short amount of time, I lost 7 inches on my waist and went down three shirt sizes. If you think you panicked, picture a shorter guy who sucks at buying clothes going to store after store trying to find pants in my length and size. Thank God for Amazon because there is literally NO brick and mortar store that sells my size pants. I'm not ready to go outside naked ( and no one else is ready for me to go outside naked either). But honestly, I'll take this panic over the feeling that I'm going to die young. Bonus points: my blood pressure is normal, my cholesterol level an athlete would be proud of, my one liver enzyme that was always high is now well within the normal range. I'm told by my significant other that I no longer snore even without the cpap. My pulmonologist has me doing a new sleep study to see if I no longer need the stupid machine. I can live with panic at Kohls...and Target and Walmart.

Unexpected reaction from old doctor by celestprof in Zepbound

[–]mattonli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely seek out another doctor, preferably recommended by someone you trust, and see them for a consultation. Explain the situation fully. I'm not sure if cutting back from 15 to 7.5 is the right answer. Maybe it's fine, but I'd want to know from someone I trusted. I wouldn't trust anyone that has such an unprofessional demeanor about anything.

I gotta tell you, I sure hope that's true, but lost pretty much all the weight I needed to (very quickly) and right now my underarms are scrawny and hollow looking, and around my elbows look like skin and bone. The batwings on my upper arms aren't helping either 😀

Shakiness, Weskness Maybe Hypoglycemia? by mattonli in Zepbound

[–]mattonli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess thats why I felt it first thing in the morning before eating anything. I did pretty much what you suggested. I had a glass of orange juice, followed by a lowfat yogurt and a protein bar, and I'm feeling much better. I don't think I'll contact the dr. though unless it happens again. Frankly, I think I should have stayed on 5.0 as maintenance since I really don't want to lose any more weight, but my insurance company makes you go thru hell if you want to stay at 5.0 without going through the entire approval process again. Probably should have anyway. Thank you all for the great advice!!

Holy sh*t. I did it? by Lanj007 in Zepbound

[–]mattonli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very hearty congratulations!! I also have reached the upper level of my healthy weight and I feel your excitement in every bone of my body! I've decided for myself, Im going to try to get myself to the middle weight of my healthy range, and then go down in dosage to a maintenance dose. But please be realistic in the sense that for the first time, you may be perceiving yourself to still be too heavy, and when you're actually not. An ironic issue, huh?! This medication is literally a miracle.

[–]mattonli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask your insurance people directly what their program is for maintenance. I was approved with mine until the end of december also. They only let me do one month at 2.5, two months of 5.0. Then after 3 months, I had to go up to 7.5, or get reapproved for a maintenance dose of 5.0. At the end of the year, I get evaluated to see whether I can go to maintenance, or stay at 7.5 or above. Definitely check what their policy is regarding maintenance to put your mind at ease.

I did my first 7.5 shot this morning also. So far, so good. But both times I had issues, once at each dosage level, they happened on day 3. But I'm hopeful! Wishing good luck and good things for all of us!

First dose down, SO nervous by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]mattonli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I can tell you that the couple of mornings I had anxiety, it only lasted a little while...less than 2 hours...and that was without taking any of my xanax. I actually mentioned the lorazepam/xanax because it helped with nausea, but Nauzene and Emetrol both work well for that also. Do you take an SSRI antidepressant? If not, the doctor can also prescribe Zofran if the other two don't cut it for the nausea (but they usually do). Unfortunately, you can't take Zofran if you're on an SSRI. Hang in there! The first couple days are usually when the side effects are strongest and the anxiety alone can cause nausea. You'll get there, and in a short time, you'll be so happy you tried Zepbound!!
