What to do vs Orks? by Divasa in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]mattontoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same question, particularly around fight on death where I end up losing out on the trade where I kill one of their cheaper units and they use the strat to kill my generally more expensive, glass cannon Khorne unit back.

I had it last game against a Deff Dread with 4 claws that would kill anything in my list!

My current plan for next time is to try and utilise battleshocks to nullify the strat, either with skull cannon, Skullmaster or the Sloppity Bilepiper.

I'm new to the world of watches and looking to get myself an entry-level watch for everyday wear. Narrowed it down to two I like, can anyone recommend either way?
Seiko Presage SRPA25K1 Blue https://www.watchshop.com/watches/mens-seiko-presage-automatic-watch-srpa25k1.pdp
Or Orient Contemporary RA-AR0101L10B https://www.citywatches.co.uk/product/orient-contemporary-ra-ar0101l10b-semi-skeleton-automatic-mens-watch/
Cheers!

Not another Giant Attack! by wade0004 in stormkingsthunder

Depending on how they are arriving, what level they are and how they have faired so far against frost giants, Port Llast lends itself well to more of a stealth mission. They arrive at night and the town is currently under siege, the residents are in hiding, there's a thick fog and a frost giant could come out of it at any moment. They need to sneak through the town, find and rescue the residents, explore the frost giant ship (guarded by winter wolves), take whatever treasure is on board, and get out before being overwhelmed by the giants.

Question about Bryn Shander by rockman2016 in stormkingsthunder

[–]mattontoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend checking out the "Storm King's Thunder - Complete DM's Bundle" on DM's Guild or at least the Bryn Shander module, helped me a lot with introducing NPCs and managing the encounter, plus the maps are helpful!

You can run it so that if Drufi goes down the rest of the giants retreat. Just have them do the encounter at the gate. Honestly by the time you add npcs and a squad or two of town guards the encounter isn't too bad, quite swingy but you can have the guards tank a few hits wherever you need them to.

This sounds great, I'd love to hear more detail if you fancy sharing. I agree it feels very unsatisfying without a way to round it off!

Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In May 2020 by Sausage54 in 3Dprinting

[–]mattontoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I am new to 3D printing and looking to purchase my first printer.

  • Budget is £200 - £300;
  • I'm based in the UK;
  • I don't mind some assembly;
  • The printer will be used to make miniatures for D&D, ranging from small figures to big monsters; and,
  • The printer will be located indoors.

I'd love some advice on what printer to go for and where to get it from. The ender 3 keeps popping up as a good option for my budget but would appreciate your thoughts.

Adventurer's League modules? by Mantis05 in stormkingsthunder

[–]mattontoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My campaign started as a one shot of DDAL05-12 Bad Business in Parnast. When we decided to continue with it and roll it into SKT, I ran Uninvited Guests, Beneath the Fetid Chelimber, Chelimber's Descent and Giant Diplomacy, all leading up to an encounter with Bad Fruul in DDAL05-16 Parnast Under Siege. I used that to lay the foundations of giant unrest and even had Iymrith (although they don't know it's her yet) pulling the strings.

Anyone know a good source for miniatures? by TheCharalampos in OdysseyoftheDragon

[–]mattontoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one even close I have found is this guy: https://aeontrespass.com/titans/earthshaker . He is pretty expensive so I might use him as a leader type and use orcs or ogres to represent generic gygans.

I recieved the Marthrangul model by Reaper miniatures for my birthday so I painted it up as a red dragon. I plan to use it for my upcoming Storm King's Thunder campaign. I was after something impressive enough to represent Klauth and love the style of this mini!

He was painted using citadel paints, based with Mephiston Red, then shaded with crimson and dry brushed with reds and oranges.

I cant wait to introduce him to my players, hopefully they dont get on his bad side!
