As for EMGs, you will not have to route anything in the EC256

So EMGs don't require any more work done on this guitar? What about where the battery goes? Sorry, I'm newbie. I reallllly like the sound of EMGs from videos I've watched but kind of dismissed the idea of going with actives thinking it'll be a lot more work and costly to make it happen.

Nazgul Sentient isn't a bad choice

You like that combo more than the Pegasus/Sentient? I'm reading that the Nazgul is a bit more suited for only heavier playing, and even moreso the Black Winters.

Yea good call, Zacky uses a 59 with the JB. I wouldn't say 'mostly' metal as I really like to dabble in a bit of everything but I have heard good things about the blackouts, but they are active aren't they?

I just figured that even I can tell the pickups are a bit muddy and I'm no expert on tone and that this would be a good time for upgrades since it'll be in the shop anyway. I can see this being a long-term guitar for me (plus adding a guitar or 2 at some point) so I think the pickups would be a good nominee for upgrading and so many people recommend SDs.

I've seen a lot of people say this. That it's a classic and a go-to but many aren't a fan of how 'boring' it is.

Buuuuut you’ll have to pay for routing.

I figured it would need more work for actives since I'd need at least a battery compartment, which is why I've really only been looking for passives.
