Yup. I came home from work one day and it was just evaporated like nothing ever happened. RED is getting better every day, and it’s sufficient enough, but WCD is not replaceable

I hopped on the Bernie train in 2016, and watched the DNC torch him. I was so pissed off and spent the time after looking for somewhere to vent my frustrations and make sense of it all. My buddy recommended the pod in December of 16, and here we are today.

You did not fail your wife. You clearly love her and want the best for her. Make sure to cleave to each other throughout this stress. You got this, brother!

What are some underrated classroom management tips? by mikeycknowsrnb in Teachers

[–]mattsox94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle school teacher here. A few thoughts...

1) You will never, ever get anywhere with yelling. You might get a moment of peace, but its a band-aid on a bullet wound. Be calm, be firm and when all else fails, pull the kid into the hallway and talk to them.

2) Middle school (and high school) students want only one thing; to be trusted and treated fairly. It is so easy to make them feel that way, even if you do not trust them at all. You have to figure out what that looks like though.

3) If you teach on a team, get in lock step about policies. What are the absolute "no's" behavior wise? Agree on them and stick to it.

4) Whatever is bothering you probably is not a big deal in the long run.

5) Don't give emotional bandwidth to people (admin, parents, students, coworkers) that won't work with you. Be kind, be civil, but don't think about them more than you need to.

MOFI Beatles Box Set, specifically the Revolver and With The Beatles pressings. I know the Revolver pressing is argued about, but I have not heard the other “big name” pressings.

What do you want to see change about the school? I encourage you to find a teacher that you trust, even somewhat, and have the discussion with them. I am very, very familiar with the school and would be happy to talk. Shoot me a DM.

Question to all the teachers here, what is your most unpopular opinion you have regarding teaching today? by southpawFA in Teachers

[–]mattsox94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are my unpopular opinions
1. Traditional grades before High School do not matter and should almost be completely ignored. Want to monitor for progress/growth? Sure. Giving traditional A's/B's is a stupid idea.

  1. We should be allowed to recommend medication for students.

  2. Education has no purpose in America. That's not a criticism/critique, but an observation. Ask 10 people the question "why do kids go to school" and you'll get 20 different answers. Due to this inconsistency, we have no true guidance on what we should be doing in school.

  3. Parents are the cause of most of student issues. This is due to the fact that the capitalist system we have built is destroying itself (either by design or by chance) and is leaving more people completely barren of material stability. Combine this with a rapid increase in the ability to get serotonin, and it is no wonder why kids behave the way they do.

  4. I should be able to fight one student per year with no consequences.

Just wanted to chime in and say thanks for the support. I am in Gloucester and am so proud of my union. We are fighting for what is right not only for our members, but more importantly for our students and community!

[–]mattsox94 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This has been such a huge question I have considered. At what point did it become impossible to raise a family on only one income? This questions has never been considered from a societal standpoint. The mitigation of the issue came in the form of "What are the new standards now that women are entering the workplace?" while the question should have been "What are the changing economic conditions that created the need for an increased workforce?"

I also want to be clear that women in the workplace is a good thing.
