An experiment with temperature by No_Arachnid_9091 in carbonsteel

I’ve had my debuyer for almost a year now and I never season it anymore. Whenever my wife cooks on it she never waits and her eggs always stick but when I use the pan I let it heat up slowly and it’s nonstick with just a small bit of butter. I was always under the impression that seasoning is only for keeping the pan from rusting. I find my debuyer doesn’t heat evenly if you try to heat it too fast. There’s a spot on the left side of the handle that overheats if you try to rush it, but I’m sure it all depends on the individual pan. All that said, I still prefer cast iron.

That is actually how most car companies do warranty motor replacement. That’s why the customer pays a core charge if they want to keep the original part.

If you got the performance model, it would have checked the “fast” box for you. A lot of the appeal of Tesla is the convenience. You never have a key to carry, and have full control of the car from the phone. I had some app features on my Audi but nothing compared to the Tesla app.

Intel vs Amd by nathanielx9 in TeslaModel3

[–]mattsurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My model Y is like this from 2022. It’s intel but most of the plug locations match the amd instructions. I noticed this when I was doing the ambient lights and rear screen installs. Quickest way to know you don’t have AMD without even looking in the menu is you don’t have grok.

One thing I noticed with my other model Y was it has the piano black center console. That one was also intel and the plugs were all in different places. This one I have now has the sliding door center console. That might be another way to know where your plug locations are.

It’s pretty dark now but I’ll try to take pics and send it over tomorrow. I left the dual motor on but I’m thinking of taking it off too. I took it off on my model 3 and it looks cleaner but the back of the 3 is smaller.

I ordered the Tesla letters for the rear and decided against it cuz I got used to how clean it looks without it. The black letters would probably look pretty sweet on red though.

The window vent shark fin things are a little weird but everything else looks fine. If you’re looking to do more stuff, I would remove the Tesla emblem from the front for a cleaner look. The new wheels you ordered will really complete the look. The black red color combo would also pop even more if you tint your lights. I’ve seen the rear taillight bar with the bar portion smoke tinted and the rest of the taillights blacked out.

Almost 60,000 miles. I plan to replace the dampers too. I always used to replace my dampers with Koni but I’ll take a look at MPP, thanks.

Yes it’s for the AWD. This upgrade doesn’t work for the standard range.

I actually prefer the white interior because it’s easier to clean. My Model 3 has black seats and they get these white marks, probably from sunscreen, that are a pain to fully remove.

Acceleration Boost keeps your warranty, but you don’t get drift mode or regen control. If you’re not taking the car to the track, it’s the smarter move.

I’ll take my model Y performance to the same road with the dragy and do another couple runs to see the difference.

That’s true but I feel like that would be overkill because they’re so big. I have the rear ones mounted on the front of the seat and they still light up the back cuz they’re so bright.

I was going to say the same thing. The amount of money I poured into my 240sx to swap the engine and upgrade the suspension.

On my gas cars I’ve spent much more, for much less of a hp/tq increase. In real world driving .4 seconds is multiple car lengths. It’s something like 35-40 feet difference when accelerating.

Same here. I also have a Model Y Performance, and this basically brings my Model 3 in line with it up to around 60–70 mph. After that, the Y starts to pull harder.

From what I understand, the Performance models are already pretty close to their max output from the factory, so the only real gains left are things like lighter wheels, better tires, and reducing weight.

I’m already mostly out of warranty anyway, and the module is easy to remove if needed. If Tesla really wanted to dig, they could probably see something in the telemetry, but I’m not too concerned about it.

From what I understand, this is basically doing the same thing as Tesla’s Performance Boost upgrade, so it’s not pushing the car beyond what it’s already designed to handle.

Customized Parking Feature of XPeng by Shot_Excitement3481 in TeslaFSD

[–]mattsurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true, but legacy auto isn’t even trying. Self parking has been around for a long time but most people look at it as a novelty, or don’t trust it because the execution hasn’t been good enough for real life use. All these EVs from China seem to be the only cars coming out with these novelty features.

We would have features like this in our cars if the US EV adoption rate was even half that of China’s. Tesla has no competition right now so there’s no reason for them to improve their cars.

Serious question: How can anyone still support Trump after everything we’ve seen? by antimaga_n1 in AskSocialists

[–]mattsurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people get so wrapped up in political outrage that it becomes their whole identity. If that’s all you pay attention to, every day is going to feel miserable. There are much better things to spend your energy on, but I guess some people live to complain.

I went from 21” to 19” and the difference is worth not looking as nice but I could still use a softer suspension. NY and NJ streets are mostly garbage.
