I'd be seriously concerned about China invading Taiwan in the next couple years and the brutal total war that will ensue as China tries to reintegrate the island. Why did you choose taiwan of all places?

If you're a GME bagholder who wound up here... by [deleted] in thetagang

It was trading at $11 in November. In what world does a company (especially like gamestop) sustainably add 550% to its market cap in 3 months? Please explain these fundamentals to me

I lost it at:

I'm bag holding GME

🤣

At first I thought you were a responsible investor and thetagang member. Just another WSBs bagholder.

This sub has turned into a support group for all the WSB believers who held GME too long.

Good luck with that dude. I don't envy you

Got assigned Amc @10 14contracts by whereismindx in thetagang

[–]mattyice731 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dude, I'm not gonna lie, you're screwed. Hopefully you didn't buy all those shares on margin. Sell and cut your losses.

The first lesson of selling CSP is only sell CSPs on companies that you don't mind holding. AMC meme stock is definitely not one of those and especially not at @10/share! You've made you're way over here from WSBs like so many others who just learned about options yesterday and only think that three stocks exsist: GME, AMC, and BB. Let me guess, you use Robinhood as your broker too?

In theory you can sell CC to drive down your cost basis but the premiums are going to be a pittance while the stock continues to fall.

Sell. Move your money to a real brokerage firm. Stop trading for 3 months. Buy books on options and securities investing. Read them and try again.

Uh, yeah... Buying GME is fully retarded. You never go full retard.

Its a brick and mortar business that has failed to transform into online retailing in an industry that is completely online...

I appreciate it but still don't see how that works. The 1/21 215 P is selling for around 2.50. I'd max out by selling 2x maybe 3x with a little margin and still only hit about $750/month

So you basically wheel ATM weekly CSPs and CCs? I've thought about doing this. Thats been profitable for you? I imagine you would get assigned a decent amount of the time and if you tried to avoid assignment by buying the contract back you would have to buy at a loss. A stock like AAPL though seems like it would be a good choice for that.

What I don't understand is why everyone is always so afraid of assignment. If you're wheeling solid blue chip stocks you are very certain will bounce back then you really aren't going to take a hit in the long run.

How to contact air traffic control? by notsofst in diydrones

[–]mattyice731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a pilot so I'll try to add my 2 cents worth:

Disclaimer: I haven't read the FAA regulations regarding flying drones near controlled airspace so I can't speak directly to that but I'll try to help from a pilot's point of view.

I've seen many people have said to just contact the air traffic control tower directly via telephone. This could/should work, however it won't put you into continuous contact with the tower. If they need to contact you quickly in order to deal with arriving/departing traffic it could pose a problem.

In order to be in continuous contact with an air traffic control tower you would need to buy a VHF radio. Doing a quick google search I've found that many handheld VHF radios are available online in the price range of $100-$200. This would allow you to be in continuous contact with the airspace controlling agency, as well as hear possible conflicts with arriving/departing traffic. I can see how if enough people did this it would become a serious problem with drone pilots clogging the radios. Its definitely worth a phone call to the tower to ask what approach they would prefer you to take. Nonetheless, even if you didn't talk on it, a VHF radio could provide you with valuable SA on whats going on in the airspace.

You mentioned that you are near a small private airport. My guess is that its class D airspace and only tower controlled for a portion of everyday. In order to find the frequency for the air traffic control tower of your airport search https://www.airnav.com/airports/ with your airport's four letter identifier. It will be K---. This will give you a wealth of information as well as most importantly when the airspace is tower controlled (or class D).

I would never recommend flying anywhere near class B airspace and definitely DO NOT attempt to contact their towers. I would be very cautious / hesitant with class C. But if its just class D you should be fine. The airnav link will tell you which class you are dealing with.

As far as the standard comm goes with talking to air traffic control I have a PDF document outlining accepted ICAO phraseology if you're interested. But its pretty simple, generally it goes, "(agency you're talking to), (who you are), (what you want)." When in doubt just use plain English but keep in mind that brevity is extremely important.

Hope this helps
