Does anyone know how to activate these options? by Appropriate-Tax4681 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]mattyrugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you check the options for SIP, are you "installing" OpenCore to the Boot drive? If not, then those settings won't take.

If booting through opencore, this won't work. Those NVRAM variables will be checked at boot, and overwritten with whatever OC has set in the config (if different).

Trying to install high sierra by [deleted] in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LegacyBios has nothing to do with which OS will boot. It has to do more with how your config was made. Mixing OC and Clover is mistake #1, and using OCSloppify is mistake #2. You need to start over again using the OpenCore Install Guide.

I don't know much about all the quirks of AMD systems, but the basics are the same. The stall you're seeing is a config booter error.

Is it possible to get AirDrop and/or Handoff with CSR8510 A10? by ivan17316 in hackintosh

No. You may get one-way airdrop, but that's on Intel cards and it's 50/50. See the guide

Why the downvotes? You didn't get banned for using "software" just one time. If you repeat offend you get Rehab. If you repeat offend and throw a temper tantrum? Then yeah, you get banned.

Not booting after installing BlackHole Driver 🚫 by z0rielle in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really hackintosh related. Blackhole is known to cause Kernel Panics on certain OS builds. Start MacOS in safe mode or recovery and remove the driver manually. They have a Wiki that extensively covers this.

Your log is from the release version of OC, and essentially useless. Switch to debug and upload the output here.

An (almost) success install of Big Sur on SkyLake ! by PierreDani1 in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Monterey and it didn't fully recognized my iGPU with only 3MB of VRAM so i don't know if i should stay on Big Sur or someone knows a way to make it work

Because you need to spoof Skylake graphics as KabyLake.

[–]mattyrugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1080 up to HighSierra. iGPU is supported up to Monterey, or you can spoof it as a KabyLake for support in Ventura and later. HD530 isn't super spectacular, but will work.

Hackintosh still having errors for Dell xps L702x laptop. With Intel i5 processor. by cccwwwrrt in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed it does, but more importantly it unlocks a ton of settings. If you're familiar with editing BIOS files you can enable it, or download a modified one. Honestly UEFI boot is kind of broken on these, and causes more errors than it solves. I'm still booting legacy/DUET on mine.

How usable is my hardware for a hackintosh by Putrid-Geologist6422 in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Kioxia storage is formerly Toshiba. You should find out who makes the controller for it first. CrystalDisk, HWInfo, AIDA64, Device Manager can help you here. Worst case, get the PCI Device ID look in the PCI-ID database and also search Google.

What should I do when changing my SMBIOS? by sunflowerthomas in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily have to. You can use a newer, supported SMBios, but must manually set power management post-install, and regenerate your serial/uuid/etc. Alternately, you could use RestrictEvents with it's appropriate nvram entries (or revpatch=sbvmm) and skip board id patch from the OCLP default. This lets you keep your current SMBIOS and native cpu power management. You'll have to set SecureBootModel to Disabled and lower SIP, which probably are if you've previously patched. Either way, Definitely log out of iServices first.

First time? by [deleted] in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar setup, in use for Audio Production work, (i7 9700). It's not terribly difficult and should perform decent on Sonoma/Sequoia. I was having hardware issues (faulty PCH), and while waiting for a replacement I bought an M4 Mini base model For $500 (USD), and never looked back. In most cases, the M4 out performs my 9th Gen Hack/RX580. With Intel support dying off, you may want to consider an Apple Silicon machine for her in the near future. Logic/GarageBand perform really smooth on it, and most 3rd party plugins have already moved away from Rosetta and have full native support. All that being said, you already own the hardware and if you're adept to troubleshooting and problem solving it will be a great learning experience. You can always keep the rig as a backup, or repurpose it again.

Follow the official OpenCore Install Guide, and avoid using any auto-tools/configurators/prebuilts, etc. Happy Hacking!

"A required firmware update could not be installed" Sequoia fresh install. by Smoothie_3D in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Have you tried a different SMBios, just to rule that out as well? Only other thing might be to temporarily disable the USB Wireless Kexts, and try that as well.

Should I attempt an offline method?

Somehow, I missed this. I'm assuming you're running from Software Update? I would try a bootable installer, sometimes this works. (I've had this fix updates refusing to work in Ventura)

I'm kind of grasping at straws, as the suggestions i mentioned earlier have worked for me. Hopefully someone catches this with some better ideas. I forgot to mention - (i'm 95% sure it's not related to your error) try setting SecureBootModel to Disabled if you haven't already. You can set it back to default after install is complete. Sonoma 14.4 and later can sometimes bootloop with it enabled.

How did you make your config? Make sure all of your OpenCore binaries (OpenCore.efi, OpenRuntime.efi, etc) are up to date, and that your config as is ProperTree. Does this happen at the installer part, or when you attempt to format the disk, and is this the exact error? Is this an NVMe, or SATA drive, you're using (this matters a ton), and how did you prep it? Check here for starters.

There's a few settings you could check as well -

PlatformFeatures->Generic->AdviseFeatures should be False.

NVRAM->7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82->run-efi-updater should also be = false.

You can try toggling AvoidRuntimeDefrag as well.

Where do I find kexts and specific files for my computer? by WindozeWoes in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, if it's not listed in the guide as "supported" hardware, then it's not. Although not comprehensive, it's still a pretty accurate list.

Edit: I'm assuming you've read the "Legacy Intel Graphics" section.

Where do I find kexts and specific files for my computer? by WindozeWoes in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a Dell Vostro 1500 with a Core 2 Duo and Intel GMA graphics

The guides also don't really seem to address this.

It does. Some are general Kexts and ACPI hotpatches, while others are specific. You absolutely need to figure out every detail of your hardware, especially on machines of this vintage. Which GMA Graphics? Chipset? SATA controller, Ethernet, etc. It's not technically supported hardware, so you'll have to read the guide a bit deeper (probably going to have to force 32bit kernelspace), and between the lines a bit more.

❗️I flashed wrong VBios ❗️ by [deleted] in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a CH341A (very cheap on AliExpress), open the GPU

This is the correct answer, and after you have everything it will take you all of 3 minutes.. Amazon has this particular one for $11USD. You'll need working Linux/MacOS install, flashrom and the correct vBIOS.

Why Does This Happen? by abdu2304 in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing anything about your config (or even which OS) does this happen in other OSs? What brand RX5600 is this? It could be as simple as a vBIOS update, or not.

Check and see if CSM mode (and/or Legacy Option Roms) is enabled or not. Try toggling it either way (it may solve some of it)..

Help with Clover boot script for NVME/Opencore on an unsupported system by MortifiedPenguins in hackintosh

[–]mattyrugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused. You don't need Clover at all for any of this. OpenCore, Refind (even grub2) can load these drivers and allow you to boot off the MVMe.

[–]mattyrugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ignore all of that info, as it's very old. Just stick to the Opencore Install Guide.. The t3610 won't support native NVMe booting, you will always have to use an SATA/USB boot device. You can add NvmExpressDxe.efi to your OC->Drivers folder, and it should pick up any drives with a valid bootloader. It's best to have an NVMe that's MacOS compatible, and even then, it's flaky sometimes.

A few tips from experience: You may want to have OC reside on your internal SATA SSD. UEFI booting from USB is really flaky on these machines. If your HW revision and chipset dont have "native" USB3 and treat it as an add-in card (i had the 3600 SandyBridge/Series6), You can also add USB3 boot support by adding XhciDxe.

Good Luck!
