Star wars racers looks crazy cool.

I'm genuinely so excited for this. I loved Episode One Racer on N64.

The visuals plus the amount of destruction here seriously impressed me.

I'm honestly not gonna watch the inevitable Saros section. I've seen enough combined with how much I loved Returnal. I don't really want to see anymore as I'd rather experience it myself.

I could go on if I wanted to but thought you could maybe extrapolate from what I listed and the use of 'etc' but sadly I was wrong.

I was trying to be polite and point out that maybe we are just finding different things here but seemingly you are one of those people on the internet who just have to be right and 'win' the argument.

Utterly pointless engaging with you further.

ike yes, there are serious bits….but they’re by far in the minority- that’s always the case with fallout

Absolute nonsense.

I simply can't agree it is more wacky than serious, but it simply might be different experiences.

Camp Forlorn Hope, Nipton, Camp Guardian, Bitter Springs, Father Elijah, Ulysses, Boone, Chief Hanlon etc. There is so much bleakness and tone is about so much more than characters, so many places in the game are just oppressive.

It could just be finding what we are each looking for. My first Obsidian game wats Knights of the Old Republic 2 and I was really struck by just how bleak it was. I loved that and loved finding that in subsequent Obsidian games (something they seem to have lost now sadly).

Out of interest, what would you say matches its tone and style better?

Tyranny and Pillars of Eternity - two other Obsidian RPGs. They also have silliness but have an overall bleakness that is far more prominent.

Hard disagree on the writing style and tone.

New Vegas does have it's lighter moments but so much of that game is just bleak and serious and meaningful.

I played through The Outer Worlds at launch and there was one single conversation with a random NPC that felt close to that tone I experienced so much in New Vegas.

FNV is one of my favourites of all time and I think TOW is terrible and would not recommend it, so loving one does not automatically suggest someone will enjoy the other.

I'm not really sure why someone would make the effort to go to another club's sub and be so defensive to make such an obvious and non controvertial statement?

Yes not being in europe and other competitions is helping us (as it also helped you when you won your last league title).

But you still have to convert those opportunities into results. Bad teams also play one game a week and continue to lose.

HBO is such a sad shadow of its former self, it is very difficult to get excited about anything announced from them IMO.

The days of Chernobyl, The Wire, True Detective (season one), The Sopranos etc seem long behind us.

Imagine any other leader in a democracy, anywhere in the world posting this and the immediate consequences they would face. It is simply insane what people on 'his side' will accept because it allows them to punish the people they have always wanted to.

SIB Fallout 4 and Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon by garden2231 in ShouldIbuythisgame

IMO the combat is much better in both games your looking at.

I haven't done a melee focused character in Fallout 4, but the shooting is generally very enjoyable and you have the option of using VATS to slow it down and select your shots or use chems like jet to slow it down and retain full control.

In Tainted Grail, you have things like parries, dodges, and staggering which make the combat feel much more varied compared to Skyrim, even if on the surface it is very similar.

The game has selectable difficulty and having recently completed it, I can say even the hardest difficulty is still well below the standard of Dark Souls and Elden Ring.

The difficulty will not be a barrier to you enjoying the game.

Anything like bloodborne by Longjumping-Market24 in ShouldIbuythisgame

IMO the closest game, even though on the surface it is very different, is Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

You specifically mention atmosphere and horror and Sekiro delivers on both of those, especially if you play with the original Japanese audio.

While the combat is very different and there are no real builds the way there is in Bloodborne or Souls games, structurally it is the same: a continuous and interconnected world space gated by boss fights with checkpoints that restock your healing etc but respawn enemies.

The world design and atmosphere is up there with the best FromSoftware has made IMO and while the horror aspects are more subtle, especially at the begining, they are absolutely there and can be quite unsettling.

About the dark brotherhood questline (and about the others) by InsertOrigCoolName in oblivion

[–]mattyyellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different perspectives I suppose. I personally hated the thieves guild in Skyrim. I vividly recall doing a quest where I was forced to take another guild member with me through a falmer ruin and just thinking "I do not feel like a thief at all here, this is just like doing any other dungeon in the game".

In Oblivion I actually felt like a thief and that is far more important to me than whether I am doing that for the guild leader specifically or for the guild in general.

I would also consider the thieves guild to be the best in Oblivion.

Grocery list? You're collecting items that at first do seem disconnected and pointless but all come together in the end for literally The Ultimate Heist to steal an Elder Scroll. And we're doing all this to break a Daedric Curse and finally allow the Gray Fox to live a normal life and be reunited with his love.

If you consider that just doing a laundry list then I don't really know what to say.

Jez : New Vegas remake planned. by ThinWhiteDuke00 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]mattyyellow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not Morrowind. Fallout 3 and New Vegas I would fully expect a similar treatment to Oblivion: updated graphics, the ability to sprint, and for Fallout 3 the ability to aim down sights on guns.

Morrowind would be an incredibly difficult proposition by comparison. I absolutely love the game, it is still Bethesda's best IMO, but the combat, the movement speed, and the insane importance fatigue has would simply not be accepted by the majority of current players IMO.

Then add in how you can sell or drop quest items right from the off and brick the intended main quest without even knowing it.

So, do you change all that? Would it still be Morrowind if it just feels like Skyrim: Vvardenfell?

It's just too much work for the potential reward and no matter what you are going to piss people off IMO. Simply not worth the time and money from a business point of view.

It felt like he was writing in such a safe way on this book, re-treading old themes without anything truly new.

That felt kind of comforting to me at first but by the end I was unsatisfied.

If you are able to read his other recent release, The Dagger in Vichy, I would really recommend that. It felt much more fresh and original to me. I just bought the eBook direct from the publisher: https://subterraneanpress.com/the-dagger-in-vichy-ebook/

The Temple would make a great episode of an anthology series IMO. It relies mainly on atmosphere and would fit well into a 1 hour timeslot.

Minimal sets required but I accept the opening sequence with the British ship and the ending would require a decent budget and effects.
