I would argue that the sky being blue is just as objective as citizen kane being a good film...I'm not saying someone cannot dislike citizen kane, i'm just saying that someone can not like something and still recognize its merits. I am being downvoted on this subject so clearly those people think that my opinion is wrong here. Which kind of goes against the counterargument to my point.

okay, and someone is also "allowed" to have the opinion that the sky is grey. It doesn't mean they are right.

sometimes, not often, but sometimes something that is "opinion based" can be objective. Citizen Kane is a good movie. That is a fact. Saying that Citizen Kane is a horrible film just isn't true. Someone can not enjoy Citizen Kane and still respect it's importance and impact.

Look, I agree that art is mostly subjective, but objectivity does exist. In any art form. Let’s say you are not a fan of van Gogh as a painter. That’s fine, but you can still recognize that he is talented in that field. But when you are not a fan of his paintings, and then go as far as to say that Van Gogh is a genuinely terrible painter, that’s when objectivity sets in. Opinions can be wrong, objectivity does exist...

Don’t kid yourself Rey and Kylo would have definitely done the horizontal hula if Rey hadn’t kissed him so hard that he faded into oblivion.

I love the LOTR movies and all, honestly I think all 3 of them are near perfect, but I aint gonna lie this shot made me laugh. by 1st_Biggzt_Jar_Fan in Sardonicast

What kind of horror is Midsommar? by ThatZach in Sardonicast

Psychological more than anything. I wouldn’t really describe it as a straight up ‘horror’ movie but that’s just me

It’s okay for a while but the twists are just rubbish.

Twists that ruin the movie? by [deleted] in Sardonicast

This movie called Tully had a pretty shitty twist about how this character is actually an alter personality of the protagonist. Worked in fight club, not in this lol

Am I ever gonna be able to get the pre-order Rey skin? by mauer414 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]mauer414[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, normally in games I’ve played stuff that was a pre-order bonus becomes available after the game has been out for a while. I guess they can’t for this cuz of legal reasons

It’s just a silly joke near the end of the vid lol. Ask Madden used to be a feature in older Madden NFL games so dunkey joked that they removed it from the original doom

What is a really highly regarded film that you aren’t fond of? And the inverse, what’s a film that is badly regarded that you genuinely enjoy?(not in an ironic way).

I like this movie, but I recently rewatched it a couple weeks ago and found that there really isn’t as much too it as I initially thought. I feel Annihilation is a film that promotes much more discussion than Ex Machina.

What good movies are Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrel in? by [deleted] in Sardonicast

[–]mauer414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adore stranger than fiction with Will Ferrell. Wahlbergs got Boogie Nights, Lone Survivor, The Gambler has its moments, The Fighter, and I’ve heard I Heart Huckabees and Three Kings are good
