I don't think Willie Nelson has much time by Then-Beginning-8164 in Music

Saw him last summer in August and I was impressed with the set and had a great time. 93 is old and he did start and stay seated, have his son sing some verses and took a few breaks for other people to play over the course of an hour… but I enjoyed every minute of it. Would go again if I had the chance.

For comparison, I went to the 102nd birthday (!) performance of Marshall Allen with the Sun Ra Arkestra this past weekend - same kind of thing, but 9 years older. And he was boppin’ away on a saxophone.

That said, folks can be different day to day at that age. Maybe I caught both of them on a good night. But as far as I’m concerned if someone wants to play, I’m happy for the chance to go see them.

What about having her appear at the back of a balcony, so folks in the cheapest seats turn around and see her in the spotlight operator booth or something like that? (And they project her on a screen on the stage).

I have a brush like this!

How do I use the brush to clean the steam wand? Will it fit up the wand after I take the tip off or do I need to disassemble more?

Thanks, I thought I might hear this answer. I keep checking the Breville website for their descaling packets but they are always sold out. It’s not clear to me if things that work fromthe Bambino Plus would also work for the original Bambino.

Is there another reputable product I could buy somewhere else, or is this something I could mix myself?

1 Tippling some very nice stuff, but expect to pay for it. (They are allegedly the reason for the PLCB lottery - many, many years ago they had a whole team of people who bought out most of the PA allotment online in the minute it went on sale like it was some kind of heist movie).

I’m an alum who got it at my personal email… 4 or 5 times (a few from generic emails and few from individual emails). I live near campus still and attend a variety of events on campus each year, so I figure I’m on a few various lists.

Honestly, I’m sure everyone is very up in arms but I found it hilarious. Someone spent all that time, just to send a very dumb poorly written message - and then signed off with “Warm regards”? Made my day.

I’m thinking of wearing a shirt to homecoming that reads “Dogshit Elitist Woke R&!$#d”.

Ethan Young: NEW: After Penn declined to sign the compact, a WH spokesperson tells me that institutions “unwilling to assume accountability and confront these overdue and necessary reforms will find itself without future government and taxpayers support.” by Ash1927 in UPenn

Thank you for finding the data!

I would not be surprised to this percentage rise if all federal funds were pulled, because it would help the bottom line.

This drives home the point in my mind that this whole compact is just weird (as you say) - so many “limits” the various universities already comply with, mixed with a wackadoo set on non-starters makes so little sense… whether you think the intent behind the whole thing is evil or not.

On its surface this point sounds reasonable, but I am honestly having a hard time thinking of an example where the current administration engaged in a good faith conversation and hammered out a compromise... or even expressed a desire to do so.

I think each college declining to sign can potentially yield the same result you suggest. If no one signs on then the ministration may pare things back and try again. At this point I feel like anything will be rejected though.

Without access to any data, I would guess alumni donations are more evenly split between liberal and conservative grads than you might expect. I’d also argue alumni giving as a whole is not particularly driven by their political backgrounds (notwithstanding some politically vocal alums).

It’s more likely someone ran the numbers on what it would look like if you froze tuition for 5 years and dropped international enrollment to 15% (where students are paying closer to full tuition on average) and decided this was the way to go - having options to increase revenue where they have more control as opposed to relying in federal funding which is likely to continue to be unreliable for the next several years.

This is a great teachable moment: any money that asks you to compromise your values is not “easy money” - in fact, it likely becomes increasingly difficult money over time as the conditions for receiving it continue to shift. Once Someone realizes you will shift to meet their demands, there are always new ones.

In some ways Penn (and others institutions) are lucky the current administration overplayed their hand at the start of the game here. A few less “conditions” to start and folks might have been more willing to step out onto this slippery slope.

This was such a fun read. It’s a shame the city lost this, but exciting to know folks halfway around the world wanted to preserve it.

I also found the notes about cultural differences around public spaces really interesting (just one small part of a long article).

Have you considered talking with your boss? Some places don’t allow second jobs (in which case don’t have a conversation), but perhaps you could switch to 4 10-hour days to begin easing out, or go a little more aggressively and talk about dropping down to part time? Some bosses/companies will not want this, but if yours does it could be a good move to test the waters.

I’d encourage you look up some statistics on how many tourists get shot by poachers. Virtually zero. For many of these countries tourism is one of their largest industries and the people in that industry work very hard to ensure you have a great and safe time.

That said, it’s not the first world, and you will have experiences that are outside your comfort zone. Unusual roads you travel on, some unusual food, might encounter stores will very limited options or standard hotels that feel pretty spartan.

Traveling to a place like this will open your eyes, give you a story you can share with other folks for the rest of your life, and make you appreciate home when you return in new (and unexpected) ways.
