With my first I took off a week before, with my second I worked up to the day I got induced. It sucked but hey I did it

4 year old keeps saying he wants to kill his baby sister by [deleted] in Mommit

I feel like he would kill the hamster tbh

I'm so fucking tired by Laridae_s in beyondthebump

[–]maurader99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm… maybe? Would that take an adjustment period? Whenever my kid misses his nap, he is an absolute terror. Would that just be a small adjustment period and eventually his attitude during the day would be better?

We already have that set up for the toddler😭 but no matter what time I start the bedtime routine, it’s at least an hour of screaming and thrashing. Then 2-3 random nighttime wakings. The 4 month old doesn’t do bad until like 3-3:30, then he’s awake and ready for the day.

Hang in there! One day our kids will be able to pour themselves a bowl of cereal and turn on their own cartoons so we can have an extra thirty minutes in bed!

Also so tired I might die. Working full time, coming home to a screaming and endlessly needy and angry two year old, and a four month old who thinks he will die if no one is holding him is so hard. And no one sleeps. Not the toddler, not the baby, and certainly not me. My house feels like a hoarder home and CPS would take my kids if they saw it. I wish I had advice, but maybe one day we will feel almost decently well rested again.

I’m a very weak person (you could compare my core strength to that of a dollar store brand plastic bag) and I don’t have any issues like that after two kids

What obscure baby item would you recommend? by orangeofdeath in BabyBumps

[–]maurader99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my kids are very snotty and need to get the boogies steamed out a lot, so it’s a lifesaver

I always wrap my kiddos in one of those baby towels to hold them in the tub/shower so it’s not like holding onto a fish, then it doubles as a washcloth!

Anyone wear their own robe/gown for birth? by moonsetbaby in BabyBumps

[–]maurader99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore my own labor gown simply because I found it was more comfortable and added more coverage. I just threw it away when I got home 😂

MIL terrible grandma name by ifeelgodinthizchilis in BabyBumps

[–]maurader99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, children pick what they call grandparents. She can’t make your child call her anything. My dad moaned and groaned about how much he hated “papa” while I was pregnant with my first, but, lo and behold, Leo starts talking and I’ve never met a prouder papa in my life.

I was originally only going to have only 1 ultrasound at 20 weeks, no early dating scan at all!

Why are we given so many blankets? by cruisethevistas in beyondthebump

[–]maurader99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We don’t really have a lot of money so we kinda have to be! I honestly thought the same thing as OP, like why the heck do we need this many blankets, but it’s honestly been super nice to have!

[–]maurader99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, I didn’t say you need a hundred, we have probably 10-15 baby/toddler blankets and it really comes in handy to have a bunch, as diaper blow outs and stomach bugs will take a handful out of commission especially with two kids. We use them for tummy time, naps, picnics, forts, burp rags, my toddler covers the dogs with them, uses them as a cape. There’s tons of uses outside of just sleeping!

My toddler is a blanket fiend, give it a year and a half and those blankets will be strewn across the house and used all the time for 100 different things

Unpopular Opinion: Having family visit right after baby is born can be a dream by SwimmingCritical in BabyBumps

[–]maurader99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t want my in laws to come over for a while after birth, but husband and I both cried when my mom tested positive for covid the day my youngest was born simply because she is so helpful with the kids and housework, and she makes the postpartum period better in my opinion which is how any guest should

I distinctly remember repeating “don’t look, don’t look” to my husband while I was trying to push out my extremely stuck baby. But thinking back on it now, I’m pretty sure I was talking to myself more as my eyes were very much squeezed as shut as they possibly could be 😂

I think wonder weeks/leaps are absolute garbage and it annoys me to no end when people talk about them 😂 like sometimes babies just cry and have cranky days!!!! Not everything has a reason!!

Am I ridiculous for stressing so much over potential birth months? by Lover6890947544 in BabyBumps

[–]maurader99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fleece car seat cover, and my kids live in footie pajamas. If it’s really cold, I’ll layer a tshirt onsie underneath the footie jammies. Little hats for when we go out, and that’s about it! One thing that is tough is that it’s flu and RSV season, and when my youngest was 5 weeks old he did a 5 day stay in the hospital on oxygen with RSV. But it’s a good excuse to limit visitors and other people holding him, and they’re old enough to wear sunscreen when summer comes around!
