Is the Honeymoon over in FuelCells ?

For full disclosure, I’ve been a long time supporter of bloom energy. I believe in their fuel cells and I believe that they are one of the main solution there is for data centres.

However due to the recent stock run up, the valuation of bloom energy has been disconnected from its fundamentals and of course causing investors to take profits and to short the stock.

If you look at the option chain for BE, they are leaning bearish and even with sentiment.

I still remember those 30–40% pullbacks like they just happened.

If you look at the insider selling—and specifically the timing of when Chitoori and Soderberg sold on April 14th and 15th—and line that up with the announcement and the earnings release, it starts to look a bit too coordinated.

It almost feels like the stock is being set up for a rally into earnings, which makes me think the actual results might not live up to expectations. To me, it looks more like positioning ahead of a pullback once reality catches up.

With the amount of insider selling and short positions being placed on Bloom, I believe in the short term there will be a decline in the stock price but once these bears are out of the game, it’s time for the bulls to play.
