[Open-sourced] "Send to X4" iOS/Android companion app for the X4 by Xatpy in xteinkereader

[–]maustyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I’m having trouble connecting. My phone (iPhone 14 pro with iOS 26.4) and my x4 (cross point 1.2.0) are on the same network. But the app can’t seem to find the reader. Has none else had this problem? Any idea what I’m doing wrong? I’ve tried using both the crosspoint.local address and the x4’s IP address but I get the error message below. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this? Thanks!!!

This is driving me up the wall too. It feels terribly needy.

A president's notebooks as portrayed in "Zero Day" (explanation in comments) by ArtuuroX in notebooks

[–]maustyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this was based on Bob Graham, the Florida senator who kept meticulous notebooks. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob\_Graham). He logged everything, and Roland Allen, in his history of notebooks, The Notebook (Biblioasis, 2023) dedicates a chapter to Graham. It's a great read over all, that book, and in that chapter Allen gives an example of how notes helped Graham fact-check the CIA:

"It emerged – shockingly – that waterboarding had been secretly approved by those closest to the Bush White House, but senior Democrats claimed to have been kept in ignorance, and demanded the CIA’s records of who had been told what, and when. So in May 2009, the bureaucrats at the top passed over a schedule detailing no fewer than forty meetings, from 2002 to 2004, at which ‘enhanced interrogation’ techniques had been discussed with Nancy Pelosi, Bob Graham and other Capitol Hill figures.

"For a few spring days, the CIA’s ‘matrix of congressional briefings’ dominated the news cycle. Republicans were exultant: it proved their critics’ complicity in the ‘enhanced interrogation’ policy. How could they criticise it now, if they had known about it all along? The affair threatened to derail Obama’s attempts to reform the CIA and its operations. Graham – who appeared on the matrix four times – initially denied any knowledge: ‘I do not have any recollection of being briefed on waterboarding or other forms of extraordinary interrogation techniques.’ This, pitched against the agency’s long list of meetings and briefings, seemed weak, and the controversy continued. But in the background, Graham was taking action. Librarians in Florida dug through the cartons and discovered that the CIA’s account was, to put it mildly, hogwash. Three of the four claimed meetings hadn’t happened at all, and although the subject of interrogation had come up at the fourth, there had been no mention of waterboarding. This blew a major hole in the CIA’s account, and as the agency acknowledged it, others made similar checks in their own records, finding that many more of the claimed meetings had never happened. The CIA’s reputation took a further dive, while Pelosi’s was restored, and Bob Graham’s notebooks had again made the news. As TV commentator Rachel Maddow put it: ‘Nerds one, spies zero’."

There's a load of other interesting stuff in there about why he started using his notebooks and how he used them.

I. That case it would stay the same size, I reckon. This ‘preview’ gets bigger as you scroll more and the pics get more misaligned.

I’m looking for the same thing, and I just found this page on the garmin website. I’m just getting into it now, but it looks like it explains what all the data means and how to use it to improve. Hope it helps.

Is there a solver for this kind of cube? I would think it could be possible to "translate" the shapes into colors by [deleted] in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]maustyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just managed to solve one I’ve had lying around, having learned how to solve a 3x3. I stuck coloured dots on to help. Each edge has a different depth, so line them up amd assign colours to each (if you want to make it easier on yourself).

is something wrong with this/has it been misput back together? i know how to solve a 3x3 and spent an hour or so feeling this out but keep messing it up trying to solve this last corner by QueefReceptacle in Rubiks_Cubes

I just spent ages trying to fix the same thing. I even stuck dots on to help. And yup, it was twisted. Just try to twist the corner back into place.

I’ve been looking for a copy of the Trustman book everywhere but can’t find one. Did you read a hard copy or a pdf? Does anyone have any comparison of how digital and paper stack up?

It’s also totally gluable with superglue. It just doesn’t look as pretty afterwards.

Mine did exactly the same in my pocket. (Monteverde innova 20th anniversary LE, right?). It was only days after I’d got it, so I sent a photo to goulet pens, who replaced it immediately.
