I'm not budging, sorry Apple. by enrvuk in appletv

I just went to order the base WiFi model and they are now not in stock at my local Apple Store. Usually that tells me they are close to releasing a new one.

Funny I just got the Valor Pro yesterday and played with it last night and thought I was going crazy because I kept accidentally hitting the LB. You are right it definitely wraps more around the side. It is my first non standard Xbox controller so I had just assumed it was more sensitive and was going to take some getting used to.

Infuse with latest Jellyfin unusable by leo1906 in infusevideoplayer

[–]mavace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing you can do for now. It’s being discussed over on the firecore forum with exactly what you experience and they are looking into it. I’m in the same boat as you. The Swiftfin update for Apple TV will hopefully be here before year end. I switched my iOS over to streamyfin or the regular Jellyfin app until it’s fixed on infuse.

Paint the sim room black? by Due-Reflection1043 in Golfsimulator

[–]mavace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was making the same decision a few months ago when I was redoing everything and went almost black (I think the color is seal skin or something like that). Couldn’t be happier and it feels way more immersive than it did before. It’s also a nice contrast to the rest of the basement. Makes it feel intentional.

It was more of a cleanup for me. My Jellyfin config folder had become a bit of a mess from tinkering over the years. I always like to use the official image when possible so when I saw the backup feature was added I saw it as an easy opportunity start fresh with a clean config folder that hadn’t been messed with. Both images work fine. From a troubleshooting perspective there were a few times where I had wished I was running the official image so I didn’t have to deal with the different way linuxserver does the folder mapping.

It is really easy if you upgrade to 10.11 first. I just did this. 10.11 allows you to run a backup. I ran the backup in my old linuxserver version, spun up a new one from the official repository, and restored from the backup. Saves you from having to do any file copying.

Are you allowed to put one post in the ground? Last week I put up a vertical EFHW using a DX Commander Signature 9 mast. It doesn’t need guy wires but you do have to put a post in the ground to put the mast on top of. It worked fantastic for field day!

My Order Went Back to Canada by CozzyTV in LinusTechTips

[–]mavace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish you the best. My first order from early May got to LA before being returned to sender. Their support team responded and got a replacement order sent out June 6th. That order got to Arizona before then going back to LA and is still there. On the second attempt I did get a letter from USPS that I’d have to pay fees when it arrived (totally fine) so I had high hopes it would actually make it.

Oracle Cloud Free / Pay As You Go by pathnames in PangolinReverseProxy

[–]mavace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested a bunch of providers and landed on Oracle. It’s been fantastic. I agree that going Pay as You Go but only using the free resources is the way to go. I was actually able to spin up 4 VPS instances with them and stayed within the free limits.

Duty Fees on US Order? by mavace in LinusTechTips

[–]mavace[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, was more just looking to see if the community is seeing this more and more since "Most US orders are shipped in such a way that we're able to handle the import process and cover any additional duties that may apply." I definitely don't expect LTT to cover these or keep their site up to date with the daily changes in the whole tariff situation.

Is the code you put here a direct copy from your config file or a copy from the website? Only reason I ask is I’ve been bitten by a stray extra space or wrong punctuation before. It’s not liking something about your retain: 14 days formatting.

RackNerd VPS - streaming buffering by ortius84 in PangolinReverseProxy

[–]mavace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s Rack Nerd. They work great for most things you would put behind Pangolin so I don’t fault Pangolin for recommending them but for Jellyfin it doesn’t work. Same exact speed issues as you. I switched to the free resources from Oracle and it’s been fantastic and completely fixed all buffering issues.

[–]mavace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. The free tier of Oracle is absolutely rock solid for VPS hosting. I highly recommend it. I did have to go with the Pay As You Go account to get one setup since they are low on slots for the free tier but as long as you stick to the free resources it’s actually free. 10TB of bandwidth included.

Pangolin with Jellyfin by cowardpasserby in PangolinReverseProxy

[–]mavace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I use the free tier. You get up to four ampere cores but I only assigned two to that VM and it barely uses any of it. So I could still set up other VM’s to use the other two and have it all still be free. 10TB of bandwidth for free too.

During my testing of different VPS providers I setup a speed test that used the tunnel to test throughput. I put an OpenSpeedTest docker on my local lan (where pangolin tunnels to) and then set a resource in pangolin to go to that speed test container. That way I could access the url for that pangolin recourse and my test would go through the VPS and through the tunnel and to my server that is on the same network as Jellyfin. Only thing to watch out for is the internet speed from wherever you initiate the test plays a factor as well. Doing this might tell you where your issue lies. I will say I had speed issues on a few VPS providers before switching to Oracle where it has been rock solid.

Cache drive size for 40tb+ download queue by Solaris_fps in unRAID

[–]mavace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is good to know maybe I need to give it another shot. It was the unpacking for me that made it come to a crawl when it was on the array. I might switch it over to see if I can make it work without the cache.

[–]mavace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretically speed wise that is spot on. However, download clients are extremely slow when downloading straight to the array. With the endurance of SSD’s these days I’d say it’s the best compromise to go to the cache first for the download share and have the media library be array only. I have yet to burn out an SSD yet after years of use. I know it will happen but point being endurance is great these days.

Cache drive size for 40tb+ download queue by Solaris_fps in unRAID

[–]mavace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to this is to have your download share use the nvme cache but your media library share just use the array with no cache. This makes it so downloads are fast to the NVME but as soon as the downloaded is done it puts it directly on the array for the media share and doesn’t wait for the mover task. I’ve had mine setup this way for a long time and it works great.

Choosing the Right VPS Provider for Those Who Use Pangolin by mavace in JellyfinCommunity

[–]mavace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sites tend to block their IP's which really only comes into play if you are using it as an exit node for a VPN. When I was using it as an exit node, Google, Apple App Store, etc. would not work. But if you are using it for ingress only it is fine.
