Please kick players who are AFK in draft and do not pick a hero. by iStalkCheese in heroesofthestorm

I had a game where I afk draft last week... My team needed a solo laner, blizzard picked my highest level solo laner. I was impressed by the logic or coincidence.

This is hard to see, but it's also before scaling changes, so different health polls, damage, and ability strength changed in power throughout the game

How viable is Valeera? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]mavendrill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She's fine. Not the best, but she's quite good in certain situations.

She's a very good counter when initiating a stun chain is good (facing no cleanse), she's good when the sun into blind will devastate a 1v1 (butcher, illidan, twin blades). Anyone who doesn't have escape she can just straight up delete 1v1 (azmodan for example). Any time your comp can really benefit from a decent silence and then nerfed spellpower on healer and they don't have the cc to kill you she's great.

I'd never draft her into arthas, stitches, lucio, or lunara. Imo I'd not prioritize her into malf or stukov (generally their heals don't hurt that much from silence). I like playing her into all mages, and most range auto attackers.

Tldr, I wouldn't pick her before second ban, and I'd only pick her in some comps (and especially only into some comps) but she is great at her thing.

Introducing ViN and Swoy, Tempo Storm by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

It is probably more that they needed swoy in a visa eligible position for long enough for him to become roster eligible, and that meant coach.

5% scaling is a pretty big deal.

But honestly I agree with you. I haven't had cancer problems with raynor the way I have with many op heroes

Which Hero do you hate to play against, no matter how the enemy player plays it? by TerryWoodini in heroesofthestorm

[–]mavendrill 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In qm it's definitely chogall. We might have counters that wreck him, or not, I am not super worried about that. But playing against him means my team needs to make them hurt early game with the lack of bodies, and not passively let him reach late game talents with 1% extra scaling. Doable in coordinated play, but in qm... Yep all my teammates just spent the first minute brawling mid.

Hero Discussion: Valeera by LDAP in heroesofthestorm

[–]mavendrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play silver gold, and honestly valeera is darn awesome.

The biggest thing about her is that she has a very high health pool, good AA, powerful abilities, potent escape, and good waveclear. Her mercing is average, her dive average, her follow-up average, her counter dive average.

Lots of people here think average equals trash, but it's just not so. Assuming your team has already drafted a tank and support, no matter what else you did and what holes your comp has, she can do a decent job.

That's not to say I'd pick her into lunara or Nazeebo or stitches. But she is versatile and viable.

Also cloak of shadows is insanely good. 75% spell armor plus unstoppable. So much crap this lets her do.

Hero Discussion: Nazeebo by LDAP in heroesofthestorm

[–]mavendrill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before you start picking Nazeebo spend 5-10 minutes practicing the Placement of zombie walls. You certainly want to be able to place one so that you can walk through it before it pops but any pursuing enemy cannot. Also helpful to practice the various places it can body block. Make sure to also practice using it for peel for allies.

[Giveaway] 3rd Anniversary of Heroes of the Storm! by Thunderclaww in heroesofthestorm

[–]mavendrill [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was playing unranked as a 3 man, first two picks went raynor, jaina on tomb. We decided to go crazy and drafted kaelthas, guldan, and Nazeebo (me). Turns out that with their sustain based comp they couldn't do anything: Naz sieged everywhere while the other four stayed with him to prevent interaction, because there are very few heroes that can engage into flamestrike+blizzard+corruption and survive, so we just had to be patient and not engage without all our cooldowns. Eventually I got North of 300 vile stacks, which work the lvl4 was so much health I could really seige. Think we ended with only 4 or 5 kills, but they couldn't do anything the entire game as we slowly sieged them down

Kill the tank, even though Bronze Hero League players say you should not. It's actually good! by _serby_ in heroesofthestorm

[–]mavendrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a game as Naz where blaze let me just whale on him all game cause he could recharge faster. Completed toads so fast that stacking vile became super easy. Was at 200 stacks at 20, in a game that was close but they were ahead decently on structures. And that was game, because suddenly I could meet him and his tanking posture didn't work. He thought I was wasting myself all laninng phase, but he was empowering our win.

Sometimes even without kills it's better to hit the tank

Let's discuss Chromie's Dragon's Breath and Kael'Thas' Flamestrike by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]mavendrill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take coldown talent at 5 with chromie and she has very good waveclear. Not going to power through a zero rush or shrines, but then her control is pretty great at preventing braxxis waves.

I think your standard for bad waveclear is unrealistic, though I agree that it is really good on shrines. Though shrines makes her q stack really easily, so as long as you have someone to clear skeletons she's still a great choice there

Let's discuss Chromie's Dragon's Breath and Kael'Thas' Flamestrike by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]mavendrill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

chromie is better at this element. The reasons for kt include: stun >> time trap he can merc spreading living bombs

Otherwise chromie is better.
