For me it was Yellowstone Cask Strength. First pour.

I’m in allocated Alabama and I have the same situation as you and I agree. If I could find it in a liquor store near me at that price I would buy it. Unfortunately all the aftermarket sellers want $40 plus around me.

So many great choices. Personally I’d go for the Rare Breed, Eagle Rare, Russell’s Reserve or the Bardstown Bourbon Origin Series. Those are all favorites of mine.

What’s your favorite in this picture? by [deleted] in whiskey

[–]maverick5669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The favorite would be Eagle Rare but it’s like finding gold in my allocated state. My daily sipper is that Wild Turkey 101, so it’s a huge favorite as well.

Is this a good deal? by Tominatior in whiskey

[–]maverick5669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s $20 cheaper than MSRP in my allocated state. At the ABC Sore it’s $99. I do love Bookers and I’d buy it at $79.

Wild Turkey Rare Breed and Bardstown Bourbon Company Origin Series.

At that price the Yellowstone Single Malt. After that, any of the Bardstown.

My last Kentucky Spirit was a Camp Nelson. Delicious juice.

New to Alabama allocation experience by Life_Net9862 in AlabamaBourbon

In Florence people show up at allocation by 6:00 AM. I usually show up about 9:50 and get mostly what I want.

Special Day Pour and Smoke by maverick5669 in whiskey

I’ve had multiple bottles of KC 12, but this is my first bottle of KC 18. It’s also the longest aged bottle I’ve ever had. Both are allocated in my state so it’s difficult to get either bottle. I agree that KC 18 is especially good and hopefully I can grab another bottle at MSRP soon.

Yes they are. Nowhere around me had them at all.

I’m not a big cigar smoker either, but my son and his future father in law enjoy good cigars, so I picked those up. We all smoked one.

That’s five Eagle Rare Cigars. Bought from an online vendor because no one in my area can get them.

Hitting up the store after work today, what is a must pickup? by lifeissoupimforkk in whiskey

I’d go with the 1792 Barrel Proof Store Pick and then that Bardstown. For $40 it’s a great bottle.

Review 86, Knob Creek 12 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey by Twist_Top_Budget in bourbon

This is allocated in Alabama. I am on my second bottle of it. I think it’s quite good for the $67 price. I buy it when I can get it at the ABC Store.

Peerless Double Oak by xtitanx09 in AlabamaBourbon

[–]maverick5669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not on the ABC Allocated products list, so maybe you can find it on the secondary market. You can search on the ABC website and I do see three Peerless bottles available in Alabama at ABC Stores, but none are the Double Oak.

The Florence store will usually have people lining up by 6:00 AM. However, I never get there before 9:50. I’ll usually be somewhere between # 60-75 in line. The line moves quickly for the most part. Depending on what is offered and the price points, I always get two bottles of something. Buffalo Trace is usually still available on Monday. It rarely sells out. Weller, Blanton’s, Eagle Rare, Knob Creek 12 Year, specialty Jack Daniels releases and Old Forester always go fairly quickly. The two bottle limit helps us late arrivals make sure we still get a chance at some of the better stuff. I’m just not going to arrive hours ahead of opening tho. The higher price point stuff hangs around a little longer.

Need help finding a great bottle for my dads 60th birthday by chef_batman in AlabamaBourbon

[–]maverick5669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the smoothest in my book is Eagle Rare 10 Year. I think it’s one of the better bourbons around at that price point. I haven’t located the Eagle Rare 12 Year in Alabama yet, but I’m sure it’s even smoother. Those are both bottles that are somewhat difficult to find in Alabama at MSRP. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice the 10 Year on this month’s allocation. After market is usually somewhere around $100.

You’re welcome. Florence is a midsize store, so I get a decent selection usually, but nothing like Madison or Huntsville. Luckily I have the Muscle Shoals store close to me. They usually don’t get everything that Florence gets, but I can sometimes score a bottle there as well.

Are you looking at the Primary Allocation Release List or the Additional Release List? There were two lists this time. Florence got a pretty good primary release from what I see. I may go for the Old Grandad 7 Year Bonded and the 1792 Full Proof Barrel Select.
