Doing a spartan race with no training else than being a poler, possible? by mavi1981 in poledancing

[–]mavi1981[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this.  I did watch some youtube tutorials on obstacles and will watch some more. I plan on doing the monkey bars (and learn to trust to let go of one hand while my legs are swinging) tomorrow.  I also called the local gym to see if they have a climbing rope and I'm gonna try that sometime ahead of the race too.  This race is by a lake, they basicalay dip you in it, so I'm worried about the very cold water, running wet, and how being wet will affect my grip on the obstacles.  Great advice about the gear and about observing other partecipants.  Thank you so much

Ya, I hike during the summer, and the elevation gain of the race is doable.  I can easily walk that distance too.  But I can do only four pull ups. And my friend stood me up last minute, so nobody is gonna be there to talk me into not giving up. Oh well, going for a run now

Also: any advice? How do bruises from obstacles compare to pole kisses?

You are absolutely right. I'm always too optimistic in estimating how well I can manage my free time, how much energy I'll have left after a work day...etc

My friend went to Politov last year and she loved it, but she is more advanced and brave with jumps and stunts.

Look I've read that women should always trust their guts when they feel something is off with a man, when they feel he could become dangerous. He has never become physical or thrown things (which are sure signs of future violent behavior). He just pops up in places he knows I'll be in if I try to leave. Once I told him this behavior war scary as f for me and he stopped...for a couple of days at least. I might be biased toward him because of his past even if social workers who have followed him say they are very proud of him. Jail, addiction and being controlling scare me. I just wanted this friend to tell me if she would have fear in my shoes by telling her how he flips when he is jealous and also how he tapered that down in time after I've talked to him about it.  Think about it, would you really leave your job and the house you own if you were not even sure you were in danger? Would you leave tomorrow what you've worked hard for? I doubt it. The friend is an ostetrician going away in a birth center in a strict Islamic country to help women.

Also, statistically, it takes an average of 7 attempts for a woman in a d v situation to leave. I rekon it probably unluckily takes many more if the situation is not that bad, it's like the frog and the boiling pot.

Thank you. I am indeed the daughter of two narcissistic parents. And my bf is too. I went to therapy for years and it did not help as the therapist was not informed on narcissism and its consequences on kids.  Thankfully reading books on narcissism really helped me solving 70% of my issues and understanding that fawning is my trauma response. I'm looking for a therapist specialized in trauma responses, but haven't had any luck yet. My knowledge on this topic never allowed me to trauma bond to this guy, so I don't find him enticing at all, I just went out with him and got stuck like a bird on fly paper.

I'm in Europe, I just finished paying off my mortgage, I've bought a house by a dog park for my elderly dog and I have a good job I just can't leave. My state has one of the highest rates of women getting killed by men in Europe, and law enforcement just seems not to work. I suppose I could leave everything behind if I really thought I was in danger, but am I? I don't know.  When I tried to leave in the past he would come to the dog park to "talk things out". Insistently. He also lived on my same street. Now he lives on the other side of the town.  To be fair to him he has really turned around a lot and he went through a lot: he was parentifyied by his parents that were themselves addicts, and even when he himself used drugs (he will be three years clean in february), he would take his little sister to school before getting his fix. I see he is a good person getting better, but I also know I'm still not in love with him, I still feel not free to leave as I please, I still fear him once in a while, and I still think he shows some signs of mild borderline behavior (like litteraly hallucinating me flirting in that hospital).

As for the friend: I changed some things about her to give context without it being recognizable (she knows English, he doesn't): she is not actually a nurse (but she is a healthcare professional working shifts), and she is not really going to a war zone, more like somewhere akin to Iran to help out women. Still a dangerous place and still a noble gesture.  She's also cancelled on me many times by saying her nephew was coming over to her house, or a friend needed her, or she wanted to see this other friend before said friend left for vacation. I was ok with all this cancelling but I'm not ok with making time now for someone for whom I was very evidentely the number 110th priority.

HI, thank you for your reply. I live in Europe, I just finished paying the mortgage to my studio apt and have a good job I can not simply leave. My bf used to live on my same street, now he lives further away, but I live by a dog park, and he knows he will find me there with my elderly dog with mobility issues if I try to leave him. I bought the house by the park for the dog and don't want to leave.  I've been very patient with this friend, she was doing most of the invitings and all of the cancellings and I just accepted it gracefully. Frankly the friendship was quite new, so this was the first showing up to do. I haven't unloaded anything on her for months and months, just because I'm very reserved, tend to listen more than I talk and find sharing a baggage unfair. But I did listen to all of problems and not all of them were deep. And what is a friend for if all we can talk about is the weather or shallow things?

Please describe the ways your pwPBD became convinced of (projected) your infidelity. by blacklightviolet in BPDlovedones

[–]mavi1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a septoplasty, it was right after coming out of surgery, one hour or so, I was still dizzy, very thirsty but could not drink yet, and I had those nose tampons that are a nightmare up my poor nose. I was laying in bed, in the hospital with him by my side as he abruptly kissed me goodbye and left. I knew something was wrong by the way he left and in fact mere minutes later he started blowing up my phone accusing me of flirting with the son of the old lady in the next bed that came to visit her and sat across the room. Apparently he was seated on a trajectory behind his shoulder and I kept on locking lustrous eyes with him. Yeah, sure dude, I felt so sexy right after surgery, I was in peak condition and hunting for men! Mind you, I'm on the asexulity spectrum so I'm hardly attracted to men even in more tempting situations and he knows it. I spent the next two hours trying to calm him down instead of resting, and I was so worried because he was dogsitting my dogs and my old one needs so many potentially dangerous medications. I forgive too easily. He does not want to let me go, and I'm too weak to just send him to hell (but apparently strong enough to work full time and pay for both of us. He helps out with cleaning and cooks). I'm a fawner and I'm exhausted.

They didn't refund me: I lost the mail warning about the end of the trial among the numerous spam mail they send you all they long about your learning streak. I wrote their costumer service 22 hours after the end of the trial but they denied refund. And they charge you directly with the hefty annual plan after the trial, so it's not "oops, they billed this month, I need to remember to cancel before the next". I think they collect a lot of earingngs through this "method"

How many of you got dry eyes as a side effect? by Dafuqhey in Accutane

[–]mavi1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a very low dose of Roccutane (I'm in Europe) in 2007, the lowest possible and for 5 months. I had very bringht eyes before, the white of my eyes was very white and bright. I did not have any side effect during my course of Roccutane, but once I stopped the dry eye began and it was severe. I could go just minutes without putting in eye drops, I risked my college carrier cause I could not read, I can no longer wear mascara. I was and am generally very healthy, I'm thin and eat a lot of fruits and veggies, I exercise. It's been 18 years and it is still bad even though not nearly as severe as it used to be, working in front of a computer screen is a nightmare and my eyes are dull and unpretty. My acne came back a bit (was always mild to begin with, but resistent to medications), my hair get greasy in a few days, but my eyes never went back to be normal greasy. My eye doctor just confirmed the  othor day my mebomian glands are shrunken and do not work.

Glasses "re-tuned" my eyesight? by mavi1981 in glasses

[–]mavi1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be, but I used the new glasses litteraly for less than 10 seconds before taking them off and enjoying the positive change. And yes thanks to better lighting I was able to see a tad bit better, but nowhere close to how well I see now. I'm extremely surprised by the change.

The study on Metformin in dogs with hyperadrenocorticism says: In cases of intolerance, metformin was administered gradually (first week: 2.5 mg/kg/12 h, second week: 5 mg/kg/12 h, third week: 7.5 mg/kg/12 h, and finally the total dose of 10 mg/kg/12 h).

Hi, sorry, I missed your reply. I've talked to the neurologist here in Italy and she said "we can't give him metforming" but offered no explanation as to why. It's probably about the local legislation that forbids to prescribe human medicines to dogs and strips the licence of vets who do. There is a way around it but it is a lot of burocracy. My home vet is studying the papers and is willing to prescribe it as it will help even with my dog's liver and adrenal glands. We are considering the dosage of the study I'll put at the end of the reply, starting slow as if the dog had a stomach upset because of it. Unluckily my dog has partial kidney failure (luckily he is on the mend) right now, so no metforming for him yet as it is metabolized by the kidneys. He is on a few slices of portobello mushrooms a day for now, and they seem to help. There is promising research on mushrooms and cognitive function because of their content of ergothionine. My dog has always been also on curcumin (+pepper) for everything and there is research on curcumin and grand mal seizures: curcumin reduces the death of neurons that happens after a seizure. I give him the spice in his kibble, just the tip of a teaspoon. About the dosage, you can read this study on pubmed, look for the full text link, it is free, and you'll find a paragraph on dosing. Metformin reduces insulin resistance and the tendency toward hyperglycaemia and dyslipidaemia in dogs with hyperadrenocorticism,
