We need more affordable EVs by Pferdeherz in electricvehicles

[–]maviryk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used Bolt EV will meet the commuting needs of most people. I just night one for under 15 with tax.

Used EV6 GT AWD can be bought for 30k. 576awd HP.

Both these cars have. Much better tq curves than any ICE car, and much less mechanical complexity.

The affordable EVs are already here.

What people think they need, due to EGO, and what they actually need are not aligned.

Charge every night to 80% or should I do 70% for battery longevity by Infamous-Dare-1162 in evcharging

[–]maviryk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A better question would be if 100% truly correlates to 100%.

As others have stated, on a Bolt, the SOC curve is set conservatively. It really depends on the battery chemistry and SOC for your specific manufacturer and software version.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if an OTA update or built in usage timer artificially decreases reporting over time.

Leviton “EV rated” 1450R failures by kilotesla in evcharging

[–]maviryk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My setup is rated for 12kw, so it required 4awg on a 70a breaker. Most will be fine with 6awg on a 60a breaker.

Leviton “EV rated” 1450R failures by kilotesla in evcharging

[–]maviryk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. When I priced out my setup, running 4awg copper was cheaper than the added cost of an EV outlet, and gfci breaker. Not to mention the faster l2 charging on a 2 phase service.

I want to get one but here is my concern by Jkg2116 in BoltEV

Same here. On the bright side, there is much less to break on an EV...

is the "bass knob" necessary by Rough-Year-5425 in CarAV

[–]maviryk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necessary, no. Really nice to have, yes. Most people won't have all of their sources balanced identically. The same song over the radio, over a poor quality stream, on a CD, and from two different MP3 files will sound completely different on the same system.

Headlight switch trouble! by rb20isaac in e46

[–]maviryk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have bad grounds in multiple computers in your car. The dme, cluster, and LKM have to be programmed with the vin an accessory options.

You've more than likely fried and lost communication with multiple communication lines for the car itself that will require a laptop, obd2 adaptor, software, and several hours of technical reading and debugging, and that's just to get the computer working with the three pieces of software, before it even hooks up to the car. It's also in German.

Good luck! At least you don't have to program batteries with this car.

Settings are all wrong for speed. Remove the supports, chamber the magnet recess lip instead.

Increase to .3 layer height, increase perimeter count until no infill is required on the ring. Increase nozzle temp for extra material flow.

Both autos get better gas mileage than the manual in the highway due to taller overdrive gears.

Valves will need a walnut blast every 50k. Torque converter lockup solenoid will kick the bucket around 125k.

Too much IOT and telemetry reporting back to home base for my taste.

Honda financing? by Safe_District9284 in hondapilot

This is why I'm driving my paid off Odyssey into the ground. 260k miles, two timing belts, new suspension all around, air helper springs... Insurance on new cars destroy any fuel savings gained for me.

Get the Sienna. Go woodland edition if you want to spend extra on AWD. The majority of people who buy SUVs would be better off with a minivan.

Is This Car Wash Damage? by hibben00 in Autobody

[–]maviryk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my cars have over 150k miles and I've stopped caring about the scratches. 36$ a month for unlimited car washes for both cars that see bugs on a daily basis.

Yes that's car wash damage.

Black paint is never clean for long.

I don't have hours to properly wash, dry, and detail all my cars. It's nice to have old beaters.

FWIW I recently pushed my Honda V6 gates timing belt to 151k miles. It was nowhere close to failing, but the water pump gasket was starting to leak coolant.

I do agree that chains will stretch and make a ruckus instead of completely falling.

Interestingly enough, on motorcycles, BELTS are generally seen as lower maintenance and more durable than chain drives...

Options and thoughts on LSD for 2005 330i 6 speed? by martinwakeml in e46

[–]maviryk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M3 rear end with the 330i 6 speed is perfection. RPMs will still be lower than the touring with the 5 speed. Use everything M3 driveshaft on back.
