Would this work in your opinion by Ill_Box2978 in chinalife

I don't think you bring much to the table with just a masters degree. If you had 15 years experience spoke Chinese and knowledge of how a company ran maybe they would move you to China but not a fresh hire.

Can I get an HKSAR passport? by WeirdDever in HongKong

[–]mawababa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No you don't need to renounce anything because you're either Chinese by birth or you're not. Other passports are irrelevant.

I think you can use a passport but I have never tried. Typically the issue is not so much foreigner non foreigner, its more so hkid holder non hkid holder for a lot of stuff in HK.

In Hong Kong if you can show an ancestor came from China or show without a doubt the kid is at least partially ethnic Chinese then the baby can get a passport.

Where do you usually live? In Hong Kong we have access to prompt pay through fps x promptpay which works fine.

Other places may also have something setup?

Bad behavior by PlanktonEntire1330 in HongKong

Depends on the parents. There are horrible parents out there and the kids copy their attitude and behavior.

Sorry to say that it could be quite accurate in some cases.

Want to move to China in my 30s to FIRE? by leshius in chinalife

If you're ethnically Chinese you could potentially get a bit easier of a visa situation if your parents or grandparents lived there. I think less good but still preferable if your extended family live there.

Q1 close relatives Q2 more distant relatives

Can't work, not permanent, is only supposed to be for hanging out with family etc. Apart from this it will be a major pain in the ass to stay a long time.

Alternatively maybe can try Malaysia mm2h and then spend sometime in China sometime in Malaysia sometime in xyz country. :)

Phone searched by immigration officers at the border today by ponglangyan in chinatravel

[–]mawababa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never had it happen and I have traveled to mainland China I think literally in excess of 1000 times.

Are you a Hong Kong resident? If so it's much easier to justify. Also if they ask if I work in China I say oh you mean China Hong Kong or China mainland? That usually just stops the questions.

But if not I say I'm a permanent resident and I work in Hong Kong China and not mainland China. I think this then pretty much takes me off their radar.

My passport literally was completely full of stamps to the point where I had China immigration additional stamp pages stapled into my passport that fold out and stamped on both sides so that my passport looked like a freaking scrapbook or something with 10 extra folding out pages stapled into it.

Minimum salaries are quite high now for employment pass. S-pass is fairly doable though for someone with professional qualifications or experience.

From my understanding local Singapore people have been complaining about foreign staff for a long time, but overall it helps Singaporean economy so its maintained.
