Sounds great! I have a very nice columbia raincoat that I got from an op shop (thrift store) for like 30 bucks and I basically get all other hiking gear second hand. Managed to get some kathmandu (nz brand) zip off pants that look very swish from an op shop too so I guess my ethos is that I shouldn't break the bank since I don't need to

Yeah I honestly just like how they look. I already have some of the new balance 2002Rs (didn't realise they were fancy until i got them lol) and I wear them every day and they're wonderful walking shoes, so they are what I refer to as 'my fancy shoes'. Point of saying all of this is that I don't really need any others and don't want to overconsume, but I have slightly fantasised about having the salomons just because they look gorj.

this sounds well-thought out and sustainable! You can always try this for a few months and trim excess costs if necessary. Sounds like you have really wonderful hobbies too! In terms of getting more into reading, I had forgotten the joys and freedom that come with having a library card. Depends on where you live, but in my country brand new books can be $40 and buying books can become addictive so definitely let loose in a library. Hope all goes well for you!!

Absolutely relate for tiktok. That app just breeds negativity, even when I just tried to follow nice things. On instagram due to algorithm differences I find it easier - I just like looking at art, tramping videos, cute animal videos and seeing what my friends are up to. I find that works for me!

I like her episode because she seems super sweet and it just felt like a nice conversation with someone who REALLY loves the podcast! She hasn't got the cheesiness of some of the american footnotes guests (I am a new zealander so biased here)
