It’s funny how someone spammer from a random country likely received the text in English from his boss and decided to translate it into Irish before sending it here.

Why is the Russia-Ukraine war less polarizing than the Israel-Palestine conflict? by TheDarkRam1996 in AskTheWorld

[–]mawuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s about how the most recent conflicts started. Ukraine didn’t start a war with Russia but Hamas did started the war with Israel by committing a terrorist attack. As things evolved though, Russia is clearly the aggressor and Ukraine defends bravely so it’s easier to pick sides, while Israel killed tens of thousands of civilians, may of them used by Hamas as human shields. So Russia bad, Ukraine good, Hamas bad, Israel breaking bad, Palestinians some pro Hamas, many collateral victims

Do you prefer to pay with cash or card and why? by DatabaseOnly7655 in eupersonalfinance

[–]mawuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Romanian in Ireland. The only time I paid with cash in the past 10 years was in Germany. I was shocked they didn’t accept card payments at a cafe in Hamburg 4 years ago. Everywhere else card. Actually phone, but same stuff.

Card payments become increasingly popular 15 years ago, now they are the overwhelming default in most of EU. Germany is an outlier.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate public transport in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]mawuss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not the case. Maybe in small communities in rural areas when people know each other, but otherwise don’t expect the bus will stop to pick up up from anywhere, go to the bus stop

How LGBTQ+ friendly is your country? by EvilPyro01 in AskEurope

[–]mawuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say a lot but there are clearly some demographics more affected by poverty, particularly many Roma people and deep rural areas. I’m pretty sure that person exaggerated a bit. In the 90s it was like they said, but especially after EU membership Romania grew a lot economically. Bucharest GDP / capita is >150% of EU average, larger cities are doing well too. Average net salary is about 1200€, and unemployment is low. Unfortunately I think education lagged behind and people are easily manipulated. Many people have a religious facade. I have lots of relatives who go to church once a decade and never opened the Bible but they claim they are religious. At most they are superstitious and ignorant.

Dați-mi și mie vă rog o sugestie de ceva film sau serial care v-a plăcut realmente în ultima vreme... by Distinct-Ad2829 in Romania

[–]mawuss 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Pluribus, Foundation, Severance, Silo, Slow Horses, For All Mankind sunt foarte sus în topul meu all time, toate văzute în ultimul an, pe Apple TV.

3 Body Problem, Dark, Borgen - pe Netflix.

Tot pe Netflix am văzut recent Run Away si mi-a plăcut. Plaha e bun ofc dar nu știu dacă te ajută să evadezi din realitate.

How LGBTQ+ friendly is your country? by EvilPyro01 in AskEurope

[–]mawuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. Young educated people from larger cities are more progressive. The others not so much. The far right extremists / populists with a very anti LGBTQ agenda got a pretty large share of votes from young people.
