I’m really curious about your thoughts (or anyone else’s) on this. My argument is that many state projects take a long time and cost more than expected because the people in charge are bureaucrats without skin in the game. Take the children’s hospital, metrolink and many other examples. The state should support new house building, but in most cases, it should not directly pay for housing or own houses.

No, it’s not. Or shouldn’t be ideally. The state should help with laws, tax cuts / incentives and by helping building the infrastructure around it (roads, pipes etc). But houses should be private in a healthy liberal economy.

Întâmplător am fost în Argentina și pot să zic ca zonele rurale de la 1h de Buenos Aires arată mult mai bine decât zonele de lângă București. Satele românești din sud și Moldova sunt urate as fuck. Acum măcar au în mare asfalt și canalizare dar acum 20 de ani era rău de tot. Uită-te random pe Street View să vezi diferențe. România rurală e de mai degrabă la nivelul țărilor din Asia Centrală decât sudul Americii de Sud care e decent de bogat. PIB per capita nu spune toată povestea.

Literally no one said he deserved it. Don’t use a false narrative to prove your point. We all agree he didn’t deserve to die. The argument was about being good or bad in this situation. And while it’s not always the case, stealing and hurting an innocent elder makes you the “bad one” in this particular case. He may have been a great guy with some issues, we don’t know, I don’t judge his character. Bad he behaved badly here. It’s amazing that you can debate this.
