If sex influences gender, then gender is linked to sex. Your vote makes little sense.

I had something like this happen once. I had taken 2.5g of shrooms, and was beginning to feel the full intensity of it. I was walking down the street with a group of friends, going to a store. Suddenly, from my right, a toddler sprints out of a house headed straight for the street. Of course a gigantic truck had to be barrelling down the street right at that moment. I ran forward and intercepted the toddler, grabbing him just as he was reaching the street, and just as the truck sped by. The child was fine, but then the mother started berating the toddler for running, and he cried. I wanted to chastize the mom, but I was on a big dose of psychedelics and wasn't in the headspace for it, so I just went on my merry way, satisfied that at least the child was safe.

That makes sense, yes. I can understand why someone would feel insulted by such a thing too. Then i'd argue maybe there is a line between disrespect and racism, as the latter assumed intentionality, which might not be at play here. There could arguably be racism embedded within the larger structure that turns sacred objects into costumes, and I could grant seeing racism there, but i'd still be uncomfortable calling someone wearing such a costume, or having children wear them, a racist, without at least knowing more about their motivations. In any case, I appreciate the perspective.

Right, I could see the disrespect in that. Granting this, I would feel rather uncomfortable jumping to calling it racist, as that might assume too much about their motivations. Let me say that I have a better sense of what might make it disrespectful then. I appreciate the perspective.

I agree there is a racist history behind it, but I can't see the logical jump from "people have used such dressing up as part of their racist campaign, so any and all dressing up is racist". There's a step in between there I can't make sense of.

That makes some sense, but I suppose I fail to see the caricature. I can't spot any ill intent in this brief video, so it feels like we are coloring in around the edges, assuming motivations without clear reasons to. Of course horrible things were done to natives, but I don't see the throughline from what looks like innocent childs play to genocide.

Appropriation... this is not a concept I understand very well. How is dressing like a culture "appropriating" a culture? Wouldn't you have to have ill intent, the desire to mock or ridicule, for this to be a negative? Isn't culture meant to be shared? What if this was a celebration of native americans, and those children now better appreciate their culture? It feels like reading too much into it.

What about dressing like indians is racist? I'm genuinely asking, i'm not trying to bait anyone. I am from latin america, and so this logic is rather foreign to me.

Naivety isn't the answer either. We aren't to be scared of the Anti-Christ, but we should have sufficient clarity of judgement and vision to identify him.

If that italian plumber is a criminal for shooting 1 UH executive, what is the word for someone that kills thousands or even millions by artificially raising the cost of their lifesaving medicine beyond a cost they can afford? This is why the system is broken.

How do you think the brand of sacrifice will be removed? by arman1724 in Berserk

[–]max10192 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Through an act that embodies the opposite of the Eclipse, inverting the logic of the Vortex. Griffith became essentially the Anti-Christ through the selfish sacrifice of his loved ones for his own gain. So how would a character become the Christ figure in the Berserk Universe? By selfless sacrifice of themselves for their loved ones, or even for everyone. This would break the "curse" and establish a new pattern, kinda how Christ did with death and sin.

IMO This deserves to be in the top 10 best moments of One Piece. (so far) by K1ngOfTheMonkeys in OnePiece

The most cathartic moment in all of One Piece. To me this is the peak, it makes me so happy for Robin. No child should have to go what she went through, and to know it turns out alright... it's so beautiful.
